AI agents in a stand-up call

Agent Standup is a free, open-source local server and UI that turns a Claude Code session into a live team-meeting view: the lead agent gives orders, and sub-agents join, share their screen and report back. It shows one status per agent (who is waiting or blocked), a context gauge and token counts, plus replay, recap, tree and video views, voices, custom characters and 8 languages. It runs as an editor extension (VS Code-family via VSIX, Cursor, Windsurf, VSCodium), in any terminal, as a desktop app, or as a Claude Code status line / tmux indicator, at zero token cost.

TL;DR Open-source live visualizer that shows Claude Code sub-agents as a stand-up call with status, context and token gauges, at zero token cost.

How to use it

There is one small local server, and every entry point listed below connects to it:

  • VS Code-family editors: the extension. Cursor, Windsurf and VSCodium use the same extension, installed from the file via Install from VSIX….
  • Any terminal: a single copyable command runs it with no editor. The command is not in the fetched text; it sits behind a click-to-copy widget, so get it from the page or the README.
  • Desktop app: it runs in its own window and adds a menu bar indicator.
  • Claude Code status line or tmux: a one-line indicator. The page defers the setup details to the README.

Prerequisite: you must have used Claude Code on the machine at least once before it will work. The page implies it reads existing local session state rather than starting its own. "Zero token cost" fits with that, since it observes the session and does not call the model.

Try before installing: a built-in demo runs a fictional team, so you can see the UI without pointing it at a real session. The animation on the landing page is only an illustration. The real view is live, has voices, and follows your actual session.

Limits

  • The macOS desktop app is not signed by Apple. Expect a Gatekeeper warning, and check whether your organisation's policy allows unsigned apps before you rely on that route.
  • It supports Claude Code only. The page names no other agent harness.
  • The author calls it unserious. In answer to "Is it serious?" the page says "Mostly for fun. No." It credits "a bored dev and his robots", and its only funding link is a tip jar. Treat it as a hobby project with no stated maintenance or support commitment.
  • The licence is not named. The page says only "Free · open source". Check the repository's licence file before you redistribute it or build on it.
  • There is no stated security model. It runs a local server that reads your Claude Code session data. The page does not say what port it uses, what it binds to, or whether anything leaves the machine. Check this in the source if your sessions contain sensitive code.
