Using Parseable with Datasette for OpenTelemetry traces
Simon Willison describes using Parseable, a new open-source (AGPL) Rust-based observability platform shipped as a single ~180MB binary with enterprise and cloud-hosted tiers, to collect and view OpenTelemetry traces emitted by Datasette, which gained OpenTelemetry support in version 1.0a41 (added by Alex Garcia). He used Codex to work out the integration and links to a human-written TIL documenting the working setup, alongside a screenshot of a Datasette trace rendered in Parseable's web UI.
TL;DR Simon Willison hooks Datasette's new OpenTelemetry tracing into Parseable, a new open-source Rust observability platform, with a TIL on how he got it working.
