Using thousands of AI agents to uncover new leads in biological data
Distributed biological reasoning is an approach in which thousands of GPT-Rosalind agents each analyzed one gene disruption in a whole-brain CRISPR atlas of millions of mouse brain cells, searched literature, and proposed mechanisms. OpenAI, PerturbAI and Scripps Research finished in 32 minutes. Distributed agents cited over 700 references versus 11 for a single agent, and blinded experts preferred their interpretations. Leads included Tsc1/Tsc2 differences and DCTN1 with cholesterol.
TL;DR OpenAI and partners ran thousands of parallel GPT-Rosalind agents over a mouse brain CRISPR atlas in 32 minutes, producing a public reasoning atlas of research leads.
