heydamir/unslop

unslop is a skill for Claude Code and Codex, created by Damir Sokolovsky (@heydamir), that turns vibecoded, AI-looking UI into a designed interface. It audits the screen for slop (purple gradients, glows, emoji labels, uneven spacing), sets a direction from the product, then edits in passes: spacing, color, icons, copy, type, layout, details, visuals and motion. It works across web stacks, can generate hero visuals through image services after asking, and can make a short story video using Playwright and ffmpeg. Licensed CC BY 4.0.

TL;DR Installs a Claude Code and Codex skill that audits AI-looking UI and redesigns it pass by pass.

What it claims

unslop is a skill for Claude Code and Codex, by Damir Sokolovsky (@heydamir), that redesigns AI-looking UI. It works in Next.js, React, Vue, Svelte, Tailwind or plain HTML and CSS. It targets dashboards, apps and landing pages, and it can also work on a live site from a link alone. Before it edits anything, it audits the screen and proposes a direction, so the user can steer early. If the screen is already good, it says so and suggests small refinements instead of a redesign.

How it works

The audit lists every sign of slop and where it lives. The direction covers four things, all taken from the product: a character, a world, the one or two moments that carry the color, and a signature detail. Edits then run in a fixed order: spacing, color, icons, copy, type, layout, details, visuals, motion.

For visuals, the skill prefers showing the product over a "glossy blob". When a hero needs a scene or object, it can use fal, Replicate, OpenAI images or Higgsfield. If no service is connected, it offers to add one as an MCP server. It shows the prompt and asks before every paid generation. The page notes that dashboards and apps rarely need one.

The story video is a square clip under 10 seconds of the screen unslopping itself.

How to use it

Claude Code, global install:

git clone https://github.com/heydamir/unslop
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && cp -r unslop/skills/unslop ~/.claude/skills/

For a single project, copy it into .claude/skills/ inside that project.

Codex:

$skill-installer install https://github.com/heydamir/unslop/tree/main/skills/unslop

To install by hand, copy it into ~/.agents/skills/ or a project's .agents/skills/.

Live-site snapshots and story videos need Playwright. Run this from the project directory where the skill runs:

npm install -D playwright
npx playwright install chromium

Story videos also need ffmpeg on the PATH. Invoke the skill with /unslop in Claude Code or $unslop in Codex, for example /unslop the hero of https://example.com. A plain-language request also triggers it. The repo has two vibecoded example screens to try.

Limits

The page gives no before/after results, metrics or failure cases beyond the two examples. Image generation can incur paid API costs. The CC BY 4.0 licence allows commercial use, but derived work must credit Damir Sokolovsky (@heydamir) and link back to the repository. The author also sells a paid service that redesigns one screen in 3 days.
