Agenta-AI/awesome-ai-agent-platforms
A curated, CC0-licensed GitHub list cataloguing open-source AI agent platforms across five categories: persistent AI coworkers (Agent Zero, Agenta, LibreChat, LobeChat, Open WebUI, OpenClaw), developer agent frameworks (CrewAI, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, Haystack, Langflow, Letta, Agno, Pydantic AI, OpenAI Agents SDK), workflow/automation runtimes (n8n, Temporal, Prefect, Dagster, Apache Airflow, Windmill), browser agents (Browser Use, Skyvern), and coding agents (Aider, Cline, Goose, OpenHands, Open Interpreter). Each entry states a factual one-line description plus its license and hosting model, with selection criteria requiring an active repo, a usable product, and verifiable licensing — companion comparison table hosted at aiagentplatforms.dev.
What it claims
The list's main use is license triage. The summary says every entry carries a license and hosting note. It does not say how many entries are not plain permissive open source. Several well-known entries are source-available, copyleft, or open-core. If you plan to embed, resell, or offer a hosted version of one of these tools, that matters more than the category it sits in.
How to use it
Not OSI open source (source-available or custom terms):
- LobeChat: LobeHub Community License
- Open WebUI: Open WebUI License
- n8n: Sustainable Use License ("fair-code")
- Pipedream: Pipedream Source Available License. It is also vendor-hosted only, with no self-hosting option listed.
- Dify: Dify Open Source License, which is Apache-2.0 based but adds conditions
AGPL-3.0 (network copyleft):
- Skyvern
- Automatisch, whose enterprise files are licensed separately
- Windmill, which uses AGPL-3.0 and Apache-2.0 for its core, with separately licensed enterprise features
Open-core (permissive core, enterprise features licensed separately):
- Agenta (MIT core). Agenta is also the list's maintainer and has an entry of its own.
- Flowise and Kestra (Apache-2.0 core)
- Activepieces (MIT core)
- OpenWork ("mixed")
Pure MIT or Apache-2.0 with self-hosting: most of the framework category falls here. That includes LangGraph, CrewAI, LlamaIndex, Pydantic AI, OpenAI Agents SDK, Microsoft Agent Framework, smolagents, CAMEL, MetaGPT, Letta, Agno, Langflow, Sim and Haystack. It also includes Temporal, Prefect, Dagster, Airflow, Node-RED, StackStorm, Huginn and Trigger.dev, plus all five coding agents.
Entries the summary does not mention, by category:
- Coworkers: Eigent, Hermes Agent, Kuse Cowork, OpenWork, OpenWorker, Paperclip. Paperclip is a control plane that assigns goals, roles and budgets to teams of external agents.
- Frameworks: CAMEL, Dify, Flowise, MetaGPT, Microsoft Agent Framework (Python and .NET), Sim, smolagents.
- Workflow: Activepieces, Automatisch, Huginn, Kestra, Node-RED, Pipedream, StackStorm, Trigger.dev (TypeScript).
Hosting distinctions worth noting:
- Desktop-only: Eigent, Kuse Cowork and OpenWorker run only as local desktop apps.
- Library-only, with no vendor platform listed: CAMEL, MetaGPT, smolagents and OpenAI Agents SDK.
Contributing: a pull request adds or changes one entry at a time. Each entry goes in alphabetical order within its category. It links the official repo, or the product page only if no canonical repo exists. It gets one factual sentence with no slogans, star counts or comparisons, followed by license and hosting in the same bullet.
Limits
- Snapshot licensing. Notes reflect each repository "at the time of the last verification", and no verification date is given. Check the upstream repository before relying on any license, especially for open-core and custom-license projects.
- No comparison on capability. Entries are one descriptive sentence each, and the contribution rules forbid comparisons. Popularity signals such as stars, funding and company size are explicitly excluded from the criteria. The list does not tell you which tool is better, more mature, or more widely used. The companion comparison table at aiagentplatforms.dev is not included in the page text.
- One category per project. Each project appears once under its "main use", so tools that span categories show up in only one place. Dify and Langflow, for example, also do workflows.
- Maintainer interest. The maintainer, Agenta, lists its own product. The page states that inclusion is not an endorsement.
- Small specialist categories. Browser agents have only two entries.
