Sharing AI progress in mathematics
OpenAI releases a broad set of new mathematical results produced by an internal frontier model, published in a GitHub repository with protocols for paper revisions and citations. The repo includes Lean formalizations of many proofs, 10 summaries of the model's reasoning, compute estimates in ChatGPT Pro usage (about three hours of Pro thinking per average result) and statistics on attempted problems. The release follows public recommendations from the Institute for Advanced Study's Advisory Group on Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence, so it also sets a precedent for how labs disclose AI-generated scientific results.
TL;DR OpenAI publishes AI-generated math results in a GitHub repo with Lean proofs, compute stats and reasoning summaries, following IAS advisory-group disclosure guidance.
