UniMate: One Unified Model to Animate Diverse Skeletons

UniMate is a unified foundation model that generates articulated motion for arbitrary rigged 3D skeletons from a text prompt, without per-skeleton fine-tuning or reference motions at inference. It introduces a topology-aware diffusion transformer combining graph-aware attention bias from joint relations/geodesic distances, a spectral RoPE generalization via the graph Laplacian, and a global topological conditioner, trained on the newly curated UniML3D dataset (13,006 motion sequences across bipedal, quadrupedal, avian, marine, insectoid, serpentine and rigid-object skeletons). It outperforms prior category-specific animators and supports zero-shot cross-topology transfer, in-betweening, expansion, and text-guided editing.

TL;DR A single diffusion-transformer model animates any skeleton topology from text, trained on a new 13K-sequence multi-species motion dataset.
