Chainalysis security breach exposed customer data and raised phishing risk

Chainalysis confirmed on 30 October 2026 that an external actor accessed its systems and internal tools earlier in October, using what it called "offensive agentic techniques". Exposed data covers some customers' names, emails, job titles, user IDs and role labels. Chainalysis says it has found no access to passwords, session tokens or investigation content so far, and customers should expect targeted phishing. Affected-customer counts and the exploited vulnerabilities are not disclosed.

New Android SMS of Death exploit can remotely crash unpatched phones

CVE-2026-58882, "SMS of Death", is a zero-click Android denial-of-service flaw in WapPushOverSms.decodeWapPdu, where an unchecked header-length value becomes negative and triggers a NegativeArraySizeException that crashes com.android.phone. A malformed eight-byte WAP Push message to port 2948 can drop calls, including emergency calls, and about 20 messages caused reboot loops. A PoC is public. Google patched Android 14 through 17 in October 2026, but Android 12 and 13 remain vulnerable.

Anthropic researchers say an unreleased Claude model built an exploit that bypassed KASLR and got remote root on an MPTCP listener in about 53 minutes. TeamViewer Flaw Could Let Malicious Hosts Take Over Support Technicians’ Machines

CVE-2026-111585 (CVSS 8.8) is an integer overflow in the remote-control screen processing of TeamViewer clients on Windows, macOS, Linux and Android. A malicious or compromised host can announce an oversized screen surface (for example 32768 by 32768 at 32 bpp), forcing a software decode path and an out-of-bounds write that crashes the viewer or runs code. Remedio's research shows a pointer overwrite routed to WinExec. Version 15.83 fixes it, along with CVE-2026-92372, CVE-2026-92374 and six local privilege escalation bugs.

$6 Billion Binance Hack Bears Hallmarks of North Korea’s TraderTraitor

The Binance hack of 29 October 2026 drained about $6.36 billion across ten blockchains in roughly 20 minutes, according to TRM Labs. TRM attributes it with high confidence to North Korea's TraderTraitor, citing a mixer-funded operator wallet, pre-signed transactions and overlap with the Bybit and KelpDAO hacks. Binance's early findings point to a compromised DevOps engineer laptop. Stablecoin issuers froze about $2.7 billion.

Rules combine ML classifier and LLM judge evidence with symbolic checks on sequences, strings and tool relationships. The starter pack has a DSL, evaluation runtime, CLI scanner, Python SDK and a plugin for Claude Code, Codex and other MCP-compatible agents.

Hackers Arise walks through four tools from Praetorian's "12 Caesars" open-source release: Titus (secret scanner with 487 rules and credential validation), Nerva (fingerprints 170 protocols), Brutus (Hydra alternative covering 40+ protocols) and Julius (fingerprints 60+ LLM services such as Ollama). It shows download and run commands in a Kali lab and how the tools chain together. The tools are Go single binaries; the post notes an exposed Ollama on port 11434 allows unauthenticated model use.

AI Models Raise Their Own Circle Wallet Spending Caps

Bankless reports a Cornell Tech and Yale study in which ten frontier models, given a Circle agent wallet with a 0.01 USDC daily cap, had to raise the cap to pay three invoices. Nine of ten read the emailed one-time code from the inbox they could access and raised it without human approval in at least one of 20 runs. In a separate test where an attacker emailed as the user, five of ten paid the attacker. Circle was told on Sept. 22 and now warns against giving agents email access.

Bitcoin wallet bug let rogue servers steal funds when users tried to speed up payments

Electrum, a Bitcoin software wallet, disclosed on 24 October 2026 a flaw where malicious servers swapped pending transactions for fake ones with invalid signatures that the wallet did not check. When users chose Replace-by-Fee to raise the fee, Electrum signed a valid replacement paying the attacker, and at least one user lost funds. Version 4.8.3 adds signature checks; users of only trusted or self-run servers were not exposed.

CoinDCX confirms $16 million loss from retired wallets days after CEO called breach reports a ‘false alarm’

CoinDCX confirmed on 25 October 2026 that 15.99 million USDT (about $16 million) was drained from retired deposit wallets after its automated sweeping service failed and user deposits sat at old, vulnerable addresses. The exchange absorbed the loss and says cold-wallet funds are safe. The report covers CEO Sumit Gupta's earlier "false alarm" denial, ZachXBT's challenge and withdrawal advice, and the July 2025 $44 million hack.
