Canonical Websites Disrupted in Second DDoS Attack This Year

SecurityWeek reports that Canonical's main web properties (ubuntu.com, canonical.com, the Ubuntu blog and developer site, and the security advisory pages and API) were hit by a sustained DDoS attack confirmed on October 8. Downtime was a little over four hours. Launchpad and the Snap Store appeared unaffected. The attack's size and origin are undisclosed and nobody has claimed it. It follows a more disruptive April attack that took down Launchpad and the Snap Store and was claimed by The Islamic Cyber Resistance in Iraq – 313 Team. It is unclear whether the two are linked.

TL;DR Canonical's Ubuntu websites went down for about four hours in an unclaimed October DDoS, the second this year after an April attack claimed by the 313 Team.
