Across six mathematical benchmarks and multiple model families (including DeepSeek-V3.2), DTC cuts expected calibration error roughly in half compared to full-sequence probability and verbalized-confidence baselines (e.g., 13.0% vs 32.7%-42.4% white-box).

It's built for investigators who need to identify and review AI agent session history on a host โ surfacing config, auth metadata, and high-value indicators โ while explicitly leaving secret scanning to external tooling; paths are informed by SpecterOps' Endpoint AI Agent Abuse (EAA) technique catalog.

Clean Engineering, Unstable Measurement: A Preregistered Reliability Failure of Black-Box LLM Observers on Shared EndpointsThis preregistered study audits whether black-box LLM judges give stable, reproducible readings on shared serving endpoints, running two campaigns across 52,988 request attempts. Same-window repeat rankings only reached Spearman 0.400 against a required 0.90, and byte-identical next-day replays agreed at 0.78 against a required 0.99, showing that a model name on a shared endpoint is not a frozen measurement instrument. The authors trace the failure to label-to-meaning mapping bias, tiny candidate gaps relative to instrument noise, and non-deterministic outputs on identical inputs, and propose a three-level snapshot-identity ladder plus design rules and a reporting checklist for anyone freezing eval gates on LLM judges.

AWS, Google, and Vercel Agent Flaws Let Attackers Trigger Tools Without Running the ModelThe Hacker News details "CoreBreak," a pattern presented at Black Hat USA 2026 by Stealth researchers Hedi Ingber and Aviyam Ivgi, in which agent harnesses from AWS, Google, and Vercel dispatched tool calls without verifying they came from an actual model turn. AWS's Bedrock AgentCore InvokeHarness API (CVE-2026-18830, CVSS 8.6) let an authenticated remote caller inject a tool-use block that skipped the model entirely; the same model-skipping shortcut persists unpatched in the open-source Strands event loop AWS builds on. Google's ADK for Python (CVE-2026-18236, CVSS 9.3, fixed in 2.5.0) allowed forged tool-confirmation approvals and user-authored function_call events to bypass the LLM, while Vercel's @ai-sdk/harness-codex and harness-opencode (CVE-2026-64650/CVE-2026-64651, CVSS 6.3) let sandboxed code impersonate an approved process to reach host tools; all three CWE-863 authorization gaps were fixed by binding tool execution to a verified model-authorized event rather than trusting tool-call-shaped data.

GHSA advisory for jovancoding/network-ai disclosing that its MCP HTTP transport (bin/mcp-server.ts, lib/mcp-transport-sse.ts) accepts JSON-RPC tools/call requests with zero authentication, session, or origin checks, and binds to 0.0.0.0 by default. The PoC shows an unauthenticated attacker can enumerate 22 registered tools and invoke privileged ones - config_get/config_set to read and mutate live orchestrator configuration, agent_list/agent_spawn/agent_stop, token_create/token_revoke, budget_set_ceiling, and blackboard_write/delete - with curl requests against a local Docker deployment. Remediation recommended enforcing bearer-token auth in _handlePost() before dispatch, defaulting to 127.0.0.1 binding, and gating state-mutating tools behind authorization checks.

Decoy Images Amplify Caption-Mediated Defenses Against Encoded JailbreaksResearchers report that attaching an unrelated "decoy" image to an encoded jailbreak prompt can sharply cut attack success rate against caption-mediated black-box VLM defenses like ECSO โ up to 73 percentage points โ even though the image itself is content-free, across five frontier VLMs, two encoded-attack families, and three defenses. Controls show the effect stems from image presence (not content or vendor filtering) and holds even under adaptive attacks targeting the caption re-check, but unconditional decoy attachment inflates benign refusal rates by 10โ67pp, so the authors propose gating it on a lightweight encoded-input detector. The paper was withdrawn by the author after v2, so treat conclusions as unverified/retracted.

A2M: Trace-Optimized Agent Hijacking in the MCP EcosystemA2M (Attraction-to-Manipulation) is a two-stage black-box framework for hijacking agents that use the Model Context Protocol to select tools from third-party MCP servers. The Attraction phase optimizes attacker-controlled tool metadata to raise invocation probability, while the Manipulation phase uses execution traces to craft adversarial tool outputs that steer agent behavior; on LiveMCPBench it achieves a 93.6% malicious tool invocation rate against GLM-4.6, inflates token cost 32.4x under a cognitive denial-of-service variant, and reaches a 74.4% mean attack success rate across information exfiltration, environment integrity compromise, and reasoning derailment, with partial transfer (63.6%/2.7x/24.5%) to four other models without re-optimization. The authors argue this exposes a semantic supply-chain risk in MCP tool ecosystems and call for stronger tool vetting and runtime isolation.

Tested across three open-weight LLMs, BAM achieves 0-0.1% message error on 8-bit payloads in ~50 tokens (vs 10-17% for the strongest black-box baseline), and the authors demonstrate a full end-to-end covert communication protocol usable within ordinary-looking conversational text. Opening the Black Box: Agentless Threat Detection for Virtual AppliancesWiz details how its Agentless Workload Detection extends EDR-like visibility to FortiGate firewalls by parsing local FortiOS logs (log IDs like 32001/32002/44547/41987) to hunt for credential stuffing, rogue admin account creation, certificate manipulation, NAT/port-forwarding abuse, and FortiManager script abuse. It maps these techniques to real-world campaigns including the FortiBleed credential-compromise campaign, active exploitation of CVE-2026-24858, and UNC3886's use of CVE-2022-41328 to deploy the CASTLETAP backdoor, plus Salt Typhoon's exploitation of CVE-2023-48788 against FortiClient EMS.

Huntress details two firsthand incident-response engagements against SafePay, a closed (non-RaaS) double-extortion ransomware group active since late 2024 that has claimed 270+ victims in 2025. The writeup covers the intrusion chains (RDP access, Defender disabling via LOLBins, ShareFinder.ps1 share discovery, WinRAR/FileZilla staging and exfiltration, regsvr32-loaded locker.dll encryption), reverse-engineers the ransomware binary showing heavy code overlap with leaked LockBit Black source (including a Cyrillic-language kill switch, XOR string obfuscation, token impersonation via DuplicateToken/ZwSetThreadInformation, and custom anti-analysis thread creation), and provides Sigma detection rules for Defender-tampering-via-GUI and the CMSTPLUA/ICMLuaUtil COM UAC bypass technique.

XBOW: The Rise of Affordable ModelsXBOW blog post benchmarking lower-cost AI models โ open-weight GLM (5.2/5.5) and Meta's Muse Spark 1.1 โ against frontier models Mythos and GPT-5.5 on autonomous, black-box vulnerability discovery and exploitation using XBOW's own agentic offensive-security evaluation harness (real vulnerable open-source apps frozen at versions with known CVEs). The piece argues that while GLM and Muse Spark don't match Mythos's peak capability, their falling cost-per-successful-exploit is what actually shifts the offensive AI threat landscape, since attackers only need "good enough" cheap models that can run at scale rather than the single best model.

Strix is an open-source framework of autonomous AI pentesting agents that dynamically run target code, discover vulnerabilities across the OWASP Top 10 (SQLi, SSRF, XXE, IDOR, XSS, auth bypass, business-logic flaws) and validate them with working proof-of-concept exploits rather than static-analysis heuristics. It ships a CLI with a full offensive toolkit (Caido-based HTTP interception, browser exploitation, Python exploit sandbox, recon/OSINT, SAST/DAST), supports OpenAPI/Postman-driven black-box testing, integrates into GitHub Actions/CI pipelines to block vulnerable PRs, and can run against local or hosted LLMs via LiteLLM, with an optional cloud offering for autofix PRs and compliance reporting.

SecurePipe is a small demo GitHub repo showing a GitHub Actions CI/CD pipeline for a Python project that runs Flake8, Black, Bandit SAST scanning, and pytest with an 80% coverage gate before code can be merged. Its commit history documents a real vulnerability lifecycle: a hardcoded database password (Bandit rule B105) and a shell-injectable subprocess call (Bandit rule B602) were intentionally introduced, automatically blocked by the Bandit gate, then fixed by moving secrets to environment variables and replacing shell=True with an explicit argument list and host allowlist.

APKX-Hunter is an open-source Android static analysis framework written in C, built for reverse engineering, malware analysis, OWASP MASVS compliance scanning, and bug bounty/pentesting work. It decompiles APK/APKM/APKS/XAPK/ZIP packages via JADX or APKTool, extracts hardcoded secrets, endpoints, permissions, exported components, and native libraries, and scores detected secrets with a lightweight offline C-based ML classifier (166 MASVS detection patterns across 15 categories). It was showcased at Black Hat Europe Arsenal and tested against the OWASP UnCrackable Level 4 app.

Pentest Swarm AI is an open-source (AGPL-3.0), self-hosted CLI tool that runs dozens of LLM agents concurrently against a target, coordinating through a shared "stigmergic" blackboard rather than a fixed reconโexploitโreport pipeline, so findings propagate and wake relevant agents in real time. It supports any provider with tool-calling (Claude, OpenAI-compatible endpoints, Together AI-hosted Llama/Qwen/DeepSeek/GLM, or fully local Ollama/LM Studio), ships bundled vulnerable labs (crAPI, Juice Shop, VAmPI, DVGA) for safe testing, and positions itself against the closed SaaS bug-bounty bot XBOW. It currently automates verified attack playbooks (BOLA/IDOR, mass assignment, NoSQL injection) with evidence-backed reporting, with roadmap items for runtime object-reference mining, self-correcting attacks, and on-demand specialist sub-agents.

Socket: GlassWASMSocket's Threat Research team found two trojanized Open VSX extensions (ExarGD.vsblack, noellee-doc/flint-debug) that impersonate legitimate, verified VS Code Marketplace publishers to exploit a cross-registry trust gap. The extensions ship a TinyGo-compiled WebAssembly payload whose strings are ChaCha20-encrypted and only decrypted in memory at runtime; once running, it polls the Solana blockchain for SPL Memo instructions sent to an attacker wallet to resolve a rotating C2 host (dodod[.]lat) and then executes OS-specific download-and-execute commands via Node's child_process. Socket attributes the campaign with medium confidence to the GlassWorm developer and names this WASM-stager variant "GlassWASM," providing full hashes, wallet/memo IOCs, and detection guidance.

VICE is an open-source (MIT) Node.js security auditing CLI with two modes: a remote black-box scan that crawls a target with a headless browser across 15-16 security modules (headers, TLS, Supabase access controls, subdomains, storage buckets, WebSockets), and a local white-box audit that scans source code for secrets, .env exposure, npm vulnerabilities, missing Supabase RLS policies, SQL injection and XSS. It ships as a GitHub Action that posts PR comments with a security score, uploads SARIF findings to GitHub Code Scanning, gates merges on a minimum score, and maintains a live README badge. Version 3.4.0 adds an AI/RAG security module for testing chat/agent API endpoints for access control, prompt injection, retrieval isolation, and tool-security issues.
github.comrepoPublished and added 14 Jun 2026๐ก๏ธ Security - The Digital Context Gap
First post in a series on building agentic infrastructure. It separates traditional machine learning (gradient-boosted trees, fraud detection) from black-box neural networks like LLMs. It argues LLMs add value in two cases: non-deterministic workflows that can't be hand-programmed, and as a "digitally native" interface that narrows the "digital context gap" between human and machine speed at handling context. It also challenges its own thesis, noting that models lack real comprehension and that even a 1% error rate is costly at volume. It closes with practical principles: start from the problem, design for failure, add validation layers and human-in-the-loop checkpoints, and treat LLMs as enhancement rather than replacement.
