Your Artifactory is fine. Your Linux kernel hosting it might not be.

CVE-2026-98432 is a race-condition use-after-free in the Linux kernel's IPv4 TCP connection setup, present since Linux 4.4 and scored 9.8 by the kernel team. Anthropic reported on 27 October 2026 that Claude wrote a remote root exploit against MPTCP listeners. JFrog lists fixed kernel versions, distro patch status as of 30 October, changelog check commands for Debian, Ubuntu and RHEL, and mitigations where no fix exists.

Proton Users Revolt After CEO Calls Security Caution 'Loser Thinking' Amid AI Push

Decrypt reports on backlash against Proton after 404 Media revealed that CEO Andy Yen called a request for pentesting time "loser thinking" while pushing engineers to use AI instead of hand-writing code. Proton cancelled planned AI-use re-interviews on 30 October 2026, and CTO Bart Butler's 1 November manifesto says engineers should direct LLMs and that most human code review may end. User cancellations are anecdotal, not a verified count.

Critical Linux kernel flaw allows remote root attacks on MPTCP servers

CVE-2026-98432 is a use-after-free race condition in the Linux kernel IPv4 TCP code (tcp_v4_syn_recv_sock, ireq_opt), affecting kernels back to 4.4 and rated 9.8 by the kernel CVE team (Red Hat rates it 5.9). Anthropic researchers say an unreleased Claude model built an exploit that bypassed KASLR and got remote root on an MPTCP listener in about 53 minutes. The article lists distro patch status and CIQ's nftables mitigation for IP options; disabling MPTCP alone does not help. No in-the-wild exploitation is reported.

What changed when mobile security stopped being theoretical

An Oversecured Head of Engineering, coming from 20 years of web work, describes four mobile security risks that became concrete after seeing real production apps. These are old vulnerable binaries that stay installed after a fix, secrets embedded in client code, Keychain/Keystore guarantees that are weaker than assumed with tokens leaking via logs, and deep links or exported components acting as public endpoints. It ends with advice: test the shipped artifact, verify the full data lifecycle, and build server-side containment.

PCI DSS and Mobile Apps: A Simple Guide | Oversecured Blog

Guide to PCI DSS v4.0.1 scope for mobile apps, with a mapping of common Android and iOS finding types to the requirements they break (Req 2, 3, 4, 6, 7). It covers which app behaviors bring an app into scope and gives three anonymized cases: cleartext HTTP in a vendor native library, hardcoded keys in a third-party SDK, and an implicit Intent leaking data. It argues for testing the shipped binary and keeping a current component inventory.

dfbench β€” depthfirst

dfbench is a held-out benchmark maintained by depthfirst that scores frontier LLMs on defensive security work: vulnerability detection, validation (precision) and differential analysis between commits. It reports recall, precision, F1 and cost per task by model and thinking level, split by application, low-level and smart-contract code and by single or multi-repo scope. Overall detection recall runs from about 21% to 69%, with the top figure at $99.19 per task for Mythos 5; validation precision mostly falls between 15% and 49%.

Polymarket Pauses Trading as Prediction Market Investigates Security Incident

Polymarket put its exchange in cancel-only mode and paused relayer actions on 29 October 2026 after users reported funds withdrawn without permission. Hudson Rock says a DebugBear-hosted script holds wallet-draining code that sells a logged-in user's positions and hard-codes the suspected attacker's wallet (about $2.65 million in POL, per Arkham) as fallback recipient. Polymarket blames a compromised third-party provider and promises to make users whole. Root cause and victim count are unconfirmed.

EpiCoach is an agentic system that treats one cross-country mountain biker as an N-of-1 experiment. Claims live in an evidence-gated hypothesis registry, and each must make a probabilistic prediction before a session. Predictions come from a digital twin fitted to heart rate, GPS and altitude. In a replay over eighteen months the twin beat standard forecasters on heart rate but not segment time, and the agent loop matched a static model. In the first three live weeks, the ledger sealed 20 predictions and scored 14, and a safety officer vetoed the agent twice. The registry, benchmark and protocol are released.

A Unified Hessian-Guided Framework for Post-Training Quantization

This preprint proposes a unified post-training quantization framework for large language models. It derives a Hessian-guided approximation of the output change caused by joint weight and activation quantization, using a tractable Fisher approximation. Quantization ranges, linear transformations and weight rounding are optimized together under one output-sensitivity objective. The authors report gains over state-of-the-art transformation and rounding methods in channel-wise and block-wise settings.

On ColorChecker-24 stimuli, closed frontier models reach CCT MAE of 715-1056 K versus 1358-2133 K for open-weight models, and a non-ColorChecker control shows this gap is partly template-dependent.

Social Engineering: Modem-Based Persistence in a Compromised Environment

The article describes reflashing a Huawei E3372h-153 HiLink 4G USB modem so its embedded Linux OS runs an OpenVPN client over the mobile network, creating a covert, network-independent persistence channel after physical USB access. It walks through enabling debug mode, flashing firmware, disabling CD-ROM emulation, configuring DHCP and autorun scripts, and chaining a second L2VPN tunnel to bridge the attacker directly onto the victim's Ethernet segment for tools like Responder. House Oversight Chair Comer Probes Delaware Plan for AI-Run Companies

House Oversight Chairman James Comer opened an investigation on 26 October 2026 into Delaware's proposed Artificial Intelligence Company (AIC), a legal entity run day-to-day by an AI agent. His letter to Gov. Matt Meyer requests documents, including internal AI chat logs, by 9 November. The AIC would run in a 30-month sandbox with a single member shielded from debts, and Delaware's draft legislation is expected in January 2027.
