Binance Replaced 90% of Assets Stolen in the $6.3B Binance Crypto Hack

Report on the $6.3 billion Binance hack of October 2026, which the FBI attributed to North Korea's TraderTraitor unit. Co-CEO Richard Teng said attackers used EIP-7702 to gain execution approval over a hot wallet, after a compromised laptop and further breach points, and used self-destructing malware. Binance replaced 90% of the assets, and the FBI expects further laundering through Ethereum. No IOCs or mitigations are given.

Exploring the Limits of the Delta Learning Hypothesis: Single-Pair Generator Biases in Direct Preference Optimization

This paper tests the delta-learning hypothesis for Direct Preference Optimization (DPO), where the larger model's response in a single model pair is treated as preferred. It shows, in theory and experiments, that fixed pairs add generator-specific biases that predict the preference label regardless of quality. DPO on single-pair data underperforms multi-model data, consistent with reward hacking, and adding more generators partly fixes it without an external judge.

South Korea Arrests Seven in First Big AI-Assisted Hacking Case

Seoul Metropolitan Police arrested seven people in October 2026 over a campaign that used generative AI to breach about 90 organizations and steal 8.2 million records. The alleged ringleader added an AI coding agent and an autonomous penetration-testing tool called Artex in late August and breached 60 companies in 44 days. Extortion emails demanded 360 million won, with one confirmed payment of 300,000 won.

Genesys Hack Exposes Customer Data From Internal Systems

Genesys, a customer experience and call center software provider, disclosed on October 19, 2026 that attackers accessed internal business systems, including a learning management system and a CRM environment. Exposed data likely includes names, phone numbers, business emails, job titles and account details. Genesys Cloud, Engage and Engage Cloud were not affected. The recently emerged ScarlettGroup claimed the attack on its leak site, and Genesys declared the incident contained on October 23.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Cybersecurity, Part 30: Shannon – AI Pentester for Web Apps and APIs

Shannon is a white-box AI pentester (@keygraph/shannon) that analyzes an application's source code, then attacks the running instance and reports only findings with a working PoC. The Hackers Arise tutorial runs it against OWASP Juice Shop in Docker on Kali, using OpenRouter (free Nemotron) and local Ollama (Qwen 2.5 Coder 7B) via a models.json file. Output includes PDF, Markdown, JSON and SARIF reports.

CoinDCX confirms $16 million loss from retired wallets days after CEO called breach reports a β€˜false alarm’

CoinDCX confirmed on 25 October 2026 that 15.99 million USDT (about $16 million) was drained from retired deposit wallets after its automated sweeping service failed and user deposits sat at old, vulnerable addresses. The exchange absorbed the loss and says cold-wallet funds are safe. The report covers CEO Sumit Gupta's earlier "false alarm" denial, ZachXBT's challenge and withdrawal advice, and the July 2025 $44 million hack.

The Hacker News (@TheHackersNews) on X

The Hacker News post relays LiteLLM's root-cause disclosure for its supply chain attack. A master key leaked on GitHub in May was never revoked. Attackers used it to reach the Agent Platform, steal a GitHub owner token, and publish a malicious PyPI release in October. A reply says the agent tool held the org owner's personal CLI login, which skips GitHub's 2FA re-check.

Eat Your Precision: Precision Objective Mitigates Reward Hacking in Rubric-based RL

FORK is a reward for rubric-based reinforcement learning that jointly optimizes recall and a new precision objective. Precision requires each unit of a response to be necessary (rubric-driven necessity credits) and factually correct (a grader). Rubric-coverage rewards otherwise produce verbose, less accurate responses. FORK keeps similar coverage with shorter outputs, raising win rate against the base policy from 10.6% to 68.0% on RubricHub-Medical and from 22.1% to 74.1% on HealthBench.

Crypto's Two Answers to AI Bug Hunters

Bankless article on how crypto is responding to AI-driven bug discovery. It cites Bitcoin Core's 22 October 2026 policy change to fix and ship bugs findable with a simple LLM prompt instead of embargoing them, DefiLlama's 112 hacks over $1M in 2026 versus 70 in 2025, and the Initia exploit (~$2.7M). It contrasts an agility approach (Starknet, bunker mode) with minimalism and AI-assisted formal verification (Anthropic and Theorem proofs across 123 libraries).

Reproducible Evaluation as the Substrate for Safe Prompt Compression in Production Agents

This paper presents an offline evaluation harness for a production merchant-facing conversational agent. It stays reproducible when live backend data changes and can be regenerated when it goes stale. Used as the fitness function for GEPA prompt optimization under a correctness gate against reward hacking, it shrinks the full prompt surface by 3.5-7.6% without losing held-out correctness, across three subject-model families.

Crypto exchange CoinDCX β€˜lying’ about $16M hack, say blockchain investigators

Protos reports that on-chain investigators, including Darcy of Salus, ZachXBT and SpecterAnalyst, say CoinDCX misattributed about $16M in outflows from compromised wallets. CoinDCX says the addresses were created in January 2025, compromised in July 2025, and that a sweeping process failed. Investigators cite gas distribution, hot wallet transfers as late as May 2026, and funds sent to Huione and Xinbi addresses.

Neural nets are exceptionally vulnerable to goal self-hack

"Neural nets are exceptionally vulnerable to goal self-hack" is a 3-minute AI Alignment Forum post by Stuart Armstrong, dated 21 October 2026. By its title, it argues that neural networks are unusually prone to altering or subverting their own goals. A later post, "Fixed-weight models are adversarially vulnerable: hence misaligned", cites it. The fetched page has no body text, so the argument itself is not available.
