Alpine Linux rebuilds GitLab after attempted RCE attackAlpine Linux rebuilt its GitLab server and reset all passwords after attackers tried to exploit CVE-2026-97229, a maximum-severity integer overflow in the Onigmo regex engine bundled with Ruby, on October 20-21. Eight worker crashes occurred and four were partially successful. Missing logs and outbound connection records meant compromise could not be ruled out. Alpine had run GitLab 19.3.4, then 19.3.6, which lacked the Ruby patch; the fixed image is alpinelinux/gitlab:19.3.6 with Ruby 3.3.13.

Vision-Language Models Are Joint Denoisers in Robotic Action GenerationJADE (Joint Action DEnoiser) is a diffusion-based vision-language-action architecture in which the VLM reads the current noisy action latents together with images and instructions at every denoising step, and guides the action expert through gated cross-attention. The VLM is also trained to recover clean action latents, and an adaptive step-size schedule cuts sampling steps. On RoboDojo it averages 12.67% success, the highest among Ο0.5-based methods, and it adds 20.8 points over Ο0.5 on four real bimanual tasks.

A shared base model (low billions of parameters) is adapted per customer through demonstrations and fine-tuning. A zero-shot perception model, whose backbone is trained on over a billion images, handles machine tending, while conventional code handles motion and cell logic. Inference runs on-premises on edge GPUs that stream action chunks to low-level control. Failures and human corrections feed fleet learning except in air-gapped defense deployments, and the StandardOS APIs/SDKs let developers bring their own models such as NVIDIA Cosmos. The lesson is to keep the model's role narrow and use targeted, high-quality data to fix edge cases instead of chasing dataset size.

Images Talk Back: Guiding MMDiTs by Suppressing Image-to-Text FeedbackThe paper studies joint attention in multimodal diffusion transformers (MMDiTs), where the evolving image updates text representations. It finds that this image-to-text (I2T) feedback tends to preserve objects and attributes already in the image, errors included, and that suppressing it improves generation. It proposes Semantic Feedback Guidance (SFG), which guides away from an auxiliary branch that strengthens I2T feedback and weakens text-to-image conditioning, and iSFG, an in-place variant that needs no extra model evaluations. SFG runs for the first 20% of sampling steps (about 1.2x base NFE without CFG). Across three backbones, adding SFG to CFG on FLUX raises GenEval from 0.6661 to 0.7479, and iSFG on SD3.5M adds +1.33 HPSv2.1 over CFG at zero extra NFE. RM-KLPT: Algebraic Pathfinding for Superspecial Abelian Surfaces with Maximal Real MultiplicationThe paper presents RM-KLPT, an algorithm that solves the algebraic pathfinding problem in isogeny graphs of superspecial abelian surfaces with maximal real multiplication. It does this by solving a norm equation in ideals of a quaternion algebra over a real quadratic field. The authors implement it and revisit the RM-CGL hash function of Charles, Goren and Lauter. They show that if the initial surface's algebraic description is known, RM-KLPT gives a second-preimage attack on the hash. Paths are much shorter (~p^3) than with KLPT^2, because a higher-dimensional Deuring correspondence exists in the RM setting. The paper also discusses cryptographic constructions that could be built on RM-KLPT.

From Routing Signals to Selective Review: Visual regrounding in MoE VLMsThis paper shows that internal expert-routing probabilities in Mixture-of-Experts vision-language models (Qwen3-VL-30B-A3B-Instruct and Gemma-4-26B-A4B-it) carry a strong, low-cost signal for detecting when a model is about to answer a question about an object that isn't actually in the image (a 'target-absence grounding failure'). Linear detectors trained on target-token routing probabilities achieve ROC-AUCs of 0.9988/0.9956 on GQA-Inpaint (retaining 0.78-0.81 on the external OBER dataset), and gating a target-aware review prompt on these detections improves end-to-end accuracy by up to +22% without modifying model weights. The work matters for practitioners building on MoE VLMs because it demonstrates a weight-free, pre-generation hallucination detector that reuses computation the model already produces.

A Latent Space AINews digest covering AMD's 8.2 billion dollar acquisition of World Labs, whose Atlas model is a from-scratch omni-architecture that predicts novel camera views from 2D image input, effectively solving the long-standing sparse reconstruction problem in computer vision by combining generative models with multiview geometry, with applications in robotics simulation, design, real estate, and RL environments. The issue also recaps the Claude Sonnet 5.5 launch, positioned as a faster cheaper everyday-tasks model versus Opus 5.5, shipped day-one on Claude Platform and Claude Code, now powering Claude's free tier versus ChatGPT's GPT-5.6 Luna free tier, and featuring an extended preserved-thinking anti-distillation safeguard against reasoning-trace transfer across accounts.

FurE: Efficient Instance-Specific 3D Fur Reconstruction without Animal-Fur DatasetsFurE is a strand-based method for reconstructing editable 3D animal fur from multi-view images without requiring animal-fur training data. It optimizes a root-conditioned latent field decoded into strand geometry via a PCA-based decoder trained on human-hair strand data, combined with a defurred animal body recovered using a surface-constrained Gaussian Frosting representation and part-based priors, achieving a 10x speedup over dense per-strand optimization baselines while retaining strand fidelity on synthetic and real-world sequences.

Learning Native Reflection in Unified Models with Interleaved Reinforcement LearningUMM-Reflection is a reinforcement learning method that trains a unified multimodal model to jointly learn reflection text and image revision within a single closed loop: diagnose an image's flaws, revise it, observe the result, and repeat. Sibling trajectories sharing one initial image enable a group-relative advantage that compares whole reflection strategies rather than assigning credit per round, and one trajectory-level advantage updates both the reflection tokens and the flow-based revision head jointly, unlike SFT cold-starts or RL that optimizes only the renderer. On BAGEL, it improves GenEval by 12.05 points over SFT and transfers to unseen benchmarks WISE, OneIG-Bench and T2I-CompBench++, with no external verifier needed at inference.

Unifying Distributional Training for One-Step Visual GenerationThis arXiv paper introduces a unified theoretical framework for "distributional training" in one-step visual generation, showing that existing methods like FD-Loss and Gaussian-kernel Drifting are special cases of Gaussian optimal transport and kernel-density KL matching under Wasserstein gradient flow. Building on this, the authors propose MGFlow, which models feature distributions with Gaussian mixtures at adjustable granularity and combines mass-constrained sample assignment with paired component updates to fix mode collapse. MGFlow sets new state-of-the-art FDr scores on ImageNet 256Γ256 (1.45 on pMF-H, 1.64 on JiT-H) and post-trains FLUX.2 into a one-step generator that beats the original four-step model on GenEval and PickScore.

GHSA-v234-4jrq-mgg6 discloses that Claude Desktop for macOS (versions >=1.1.3918, less than 1.15962.0) omitted a macOS-executable file type from its Cowork folder block-list, letting a malicious file written into a Cowork sandbox's shared folder by a compromised or prompt-injected agent run commands on the host when opened via Claude Desktop. A separate, compounding issue is also disclosed: Cowork VM images before 1.11847.5 shipped a guest Linux kernel vulnerable to CVE-2026-43284, which combined with the block-list gap could let VM-privileged code trigger the file open without user interaction. Both issues are fixed in Claude Desktop 1.15962.0; reported internally by Anthropic and independently by Vladimir Tokarev of Cyera Research.

PQ spending for Stealth Address ProtocolThird in a series on post-quantum upgrades to the Stealth Address Protocol (ERC-5564/ERC-6538), this ethresear.ch post proposes a new schemeId=6 that replaces ECDH with ML-KEM for quantum-safe payment discovery and replaces ECDSA with either a lattice-based signature (SPIRIT, an ML-DSA/Dilithium variant) or a novel construction called HSAP that uses ML-KEM key delivery plus a ZK proof over hash-preimages for spending authorization. It works through the exact key-generation/derivation math for both schemes, discusses on-chain verification costs (citing ETHDILITHIUM benchmarks and draft EIP-8051's ~4500-gas ML-DSA-44 precompile), and sketches how the extended ERC-5564 announcer/registry interface and smart-account spending path would look under quantum attack assumptions.

L402-over-eth-Layer2L402-EL2 is an author's proposal and open-source implementation that adapts the Lightning-based L402 HTTP 402 payment pattern to Ethereum L2s, replacing invoices/preimages with a prefunded escrow contract and cumulative EIP-712 vouchers signed per call. It layers macaroons with caveats (tool, max_cumulative, expires_at) for HTTP credentials and attenuation to sub-agents, on-chain session keys with spending caps (ERC-1271/ERC-4337 compatible), and batch settlement, so an agent pays a provider per MCP tool call without a transaction per call. The stated design specifically meters MCP's tools/call, resources/read, and prompts/get while leaving initialize/tools/list free for discovery, aimed at agent orchestrators calling paid LLM APIs like the author's own LightPhon service; contracts are unaudited.

FirmAgent is an academic research toolkit (NDSS 2026) for finding vulnerabilities in re-hosted IoT firmware web services by combining IDA-based pre-fuzzing (CFG/sink distance scoring), QEMU instrumented tracing, CFG-guided API fuzzing, and an optional LLM agent (LLMATaint.py) that consumes runtime taint traces to reason about and produce PoCs for bug classes like command injection. The pipeline is explicit about scope: it is meant for authorized, owned or re-hosted firmware (e.g. Greenhouse-style containers), and stitches together sink-scope extraction, feedback-driven fuzzing, and request-to-trace attribution before handing traces to an LLM for taint-to-PoC analysis.

LOGOS: A Living Logic for AI Agent Teams That Evolve With HumansLOGOS is a proposed pluggable governance and self-evolution layer that sits atop existing multiagent frameworks, compiling documents, images, audio, tables, databases, APIs and human instructions into versioned "agent packs" containing agents, tools, knowledge, tests, permissions and policies. It converts agent activity into portable, auditable event traces and enforces fail-closed verification, requiring held-out execution evidence and human authorization before any learned prompt, memory, skill, tool, role or workflow can be promoted from candidate to production. The core contribution is architectural: a framework for "verifiable human-agent loop engineering" that lets agents act and propose improvements at speed while humans retain control over irreversible changes.
