SymLift: Neural Semantic Lifting for Compile-Free Vulnerability Detection in Context-Incomplete Code FragmentsSymLift is a compile-free vulnerability detection framework for context-incomplete code fragments. A fine-tuned LLM lifts control-flow, data-flow, memory and resource relations into a constrained LLVM-like IR. A parser turns the IR into facts, and Datalog rules derive findings with derivation traces. On Juliet function-level fragments Clang compilation success falls to 12.00%, while SymLift's completion rate drops only 1.17 points. An unauthenticated endpoint also lets anyone swap the robot's AI model, voice and personality (CVE-2026-105038, CVSS 9.8, PoC listed by the CNA). At the Oct 13 retest, 32 of 40 remotely testable findings were still open. The post notes that The Verge demonstrated the issue on its reporter's own toy, that vendor remediation is unverified, and that broader malicious compromise is unproven.

How the Claude Code team does code reviewThe Claude Code team describes how it reviews code when Claude writes about 90% of it. Layers include pre-PR self-verification and fresh-context subagent review, an automated Claude review on every PR, and agents that vote on each finding. Risk-tier classifiers, trusted-author rules, merge queues, feature flags and on-call back these up. From June to September, merged PRs more than doubled while reverts fell over 40%. It also covers how they measure reviewer noise, treat incidents as evals, keep review loops converging (one PR went through 50+ rounds overnight), and spread codebase knowledge through Claude-generated explainers.

AI-Driven Reproducibility and Analytical Robustness in Scientific DiscoverySEER-Repro is a benchmark of 20 published papers based on the SEER cancer registry, with the data needed to reproduce their findings. An LLM agent reproduces 77.4% of 2,190 atomic claims. A second agentic pipeline finds alternative analytical choices and reruns the analyses, flagging potentially consequential choices in 9.5% of fully reproduced findings for expert review.

90% of US working hours are spent on tasks not covered well by AI benchmarksMercor's Benchmark Map tags prompts from 29 selected AI benchmarks to O*NET tasks with an LLM judge, following Wang et al. It covers 923 occupations and 18,797 tasks. It finds only 208 occupations have a task with at least 5 benchmark prompts, and about 90% of US working hours fall on tasks with little or no benchmark coverage. Coverage skews toward AI-exposed, high-wage-bill, high-importance tasks such as software engineering and law, and it leaves out smaller middle-income knowledge work and physical work. The page also tests O*NET-weighted occupation scores on the APEX benchmarks for four occupations, and lists the limits of the method: sparse items, saturation, quality weighting, and augmentation versus automation.

Ignored, Not Refused: What Low Prompt-Injection Success Rates Hide in Small Tool-Using AgentsIgnored, Not Refused audits 33,000 trajectories from eleven open-weight agents (2-14B parameters) on InjecAgent and AgentDojo. A label-blind LLM judge finds most failed indirect prompt injections are ignored (76-80%) rather than refused (17-18%). Changing only the system prompt moves InjecAgent ASR from 0.2% to 43%. The Attack-Task Outcome Matrix (ATOM) shows 21.7% of AgentDojo episodes were safe but left the user task incomplete. The corpus, judge prompt and code are released.

[AINews] Agents disprove Polysemanticity; greatly improve Interpretability & AlignmentThe 10/14β10/15/2026 AINews issue. Its lead story is Goodfire's Nick Cammarata essay "Neural Networks Are Already Clean", which argues agentic analysis resolves many known cases of polysemanticity and superposition. Neel Nanda, Leo Gao and Jake Mendel push back. It also covers Meta's Muse Spark Open (816B total / 42B active MoE, 1M context, custom license, Artificial Analysis index 39, vLLM day-0 support and quantizations), Nemotron 3.5, MAI-Base-2 and Gemini 4 Argon evals. Further items cover Vals' refund-agent and MiMo task-leakage findings, TPUv7 and Vera Rubin inference benchmarks, Perplexity's SPACE sandbox, RL training systems (TRL tree packing, bitwise-consistent vLLM RL) and Sakana's Agentic Scientist.

GitHub Action tj-actions/changed-files supply chain attack: what you need to know | Endor LabsEndor Labs explains the March 2025 compromise of the tj-actions/changed-files GitHub Action (CVE-2025-30066). Attackers pushed a malicious commit and retroactively repointed version tags, so a Python payload dumped CI/CD secrets to workflow logs across about 23,000 repositories. The post gives response steps: find usage with a GitHub code search, remove the Action from all branches or enforce an Actions allowlist, audit logs for suspicious outbound requests and IPs, and rotate exposed secrets. It also notes the March 17 restoration and the risk of transitive Action dependencies. It includes Endor Labs customer steps (the `--ghactions --secrets --git-logs` scan flags).

SBOM vs. SBOM: Comparing SBOMs from Different Tools and Lifecycle Stages | Endor LabsCase study running three open source SBOM generators (two generic, one Maven plugin) on Eclipse Steady 3.2.5 rest-backend at three lifecycle stages (git clone, Maven package, Docker image), yielding 8 CycloneDX SBOMs. Compares precision/recall against the mvn dependency:tree ground truth and finds the Maven-integrated tool perfect (1.0/1.0) while generic tools miss versions, groupIds and transitive dependencies. It also shows PURL qualifier differences (e.g. type=jar, apt qualifiers) make SBOMs hard to compare, test dependencies are indistinguishable, and argues for an SBOM generator benchmark.

PWN Request Threat: A Hidden Danger in GitHub Actions | Endor LabsExplains the "pwn request" weakness in GitHub Actions. A workflow triggered by pull_request_target runs with write permissions and secrets, so if it checks out and builds PR head code, attacker-controlled code runs in a privileged context. It gives a three-step check for susceptible workflows: the trigger, a checkout of the PR head SHA or ref, and build steps such as npm install or make. It also covers mitigations: switch to pull_request or workflow_run, gate on a label, and never pass secrets to scripts that run on PR code. It notes safe patterns and cites the puppetlabs finding.

Topology-Inspired Fine-Tuning for Wind-Field Super-ResolutionThe paper fine-tunes a pretrained CNN wind-field super-resolution model with differentiable topology-inspired auxiliary losses on speed, gradient magnitude, soft high-speed level sets and local maxima. It also uses fixed-pair supervision at ground-truth persistence-pair endpoints located offline with the Topology ToolKit. A 16-configuration loss study on a fixed 168-field benchmark finds that gradient supervision gives the strongest persistence-diagram improvement, while fixed-pair supervision gives the most consistent joint improvement in persistence-diagram and merge-tree distances. The combined objective cuts bottleneck, W2,β and W2,2 distances by 31%, 25% and 27% relative to the pretrained CNN, at a cost of about half of standard fine-tuning's PSNR gain. It also shows that pointwise metrics and topological distances rank CNN and GAN models differently.

Google DeepMind describes using Google Antigravity as an agentic science workbench to find antimicrobial peptide candidates in Streptococcus pseudopneumoniae. The agent orchestrates queries across UniProt and other databases, uses ProtNLM function predictions for uncharacterized proteins, and pulls structures from the AlphaFold Database. A new Biomolecular Structure Viewer shares 3D state with the agent in both directions, so residues the researcher highlights or pins become context for the agent's reasoning. The resulting lead has predicted activity against respiratory-tract pathogens and is going into wet-lab validation.

PROBE: Learning to Audit Policy Compliance in Tool-Using LLM AgentsPROBE (Policy Rule Observation via Behavioral Exploration) trains LLM-based auditors that act as realistic users and probe deployed tool-using agents for policy violations (pricing, privacy, confirmation, safety) across multi-turn, tool-mediated dialogue. It formalizes auditing as a two-player Markov game with a composite reward for violation discovery, plausibility, progress and policy diversity, and compares GRPO, DPO and GFlowNet optimization. Trained auditors find broader, higher-yield violations than zero-shot adversaries, even when much smaller than the target agent, positioning behavioral auditing as a distinct axis next to capability and safety benchmarks.

It formalizes auditing as a two-player Markov game with a composite reward balancing violation discovery, behavioral plausibility, conversation progress and policy diversity, and compares GRPO, DPO and GFlowNet optimization in a controlled setting. Trained auditors find broader, higher-yield violations than same-architecture zero-shot adversaries, even when much smaller than the target agent. This positions multi-turn behavioral auditing as a distinct evaluation axis alongside capability and safety benchmarks.
