Rootshell Security Bulletin #22 (Aug 1998) reports an ICQ authentication flaw found by a Linux ICQ clone developer. The Mirabilis server stores 8-character passwords, and sending a password of 9 or more characters (e.g. "123456789") overflows the buffer and logs the client in as any UIN not already online. This gives full account takeover, including receiving offline messages. It is not spoofing, and it works with unofficial clients such as zicq, since the official client enforces the length limit client-side.

  16. MCP spec 2026-07-28 changelog (stateless protocol, MRTR, Sampling/Roots deprecated)

Official changelog for the Model Context Protocol 2026-07-28 specification. Major changes: protocol-level sessions and the initialize handshake are removed to make MCP stateless, with version and capabilities carried in _meta on every request, plus a new server/discover RPC and subscriptions/listen replacing the GET stream and resource subscribe calls. It introduces Multi Round-Trip Requests (InputRequiredResult) in place of server-initiated sampling, roots and elicitation requests, moves tasks into an extension, and deprecates Roots, Sampling, Logging, HTTP+SSE and Dynamic Client Registration. Minor changes add cache hints (ttlMs/cacheScope), new Mcp-Method/Mcp-Name headers, OpenTelemetry trace context, RFC 9207 iss validation and an error-code allocation policy.

  25. Kong Konnect MCP server: stored prompt injection via analytics data leads to credential/data exfiltration (CVE-2026-13341)

GitHub Security Advisory (CVE-2026-13341) for Kong's mcp-konnect MCP server describes a stored prompt injection vulnerability where a remote attacker crafts malicious request metadata (e.g. User-Agent) that gets stored in Konnect analytics and later returned unsanitized to an AI assistant via MCP tools, potentially causing the agent to exfiltrate sensitive data (plugin configs, secrets, internal hostnames) to an attacker-controlled URL if the client can make outbound fetches. A related path manipulation flaw in control plane/group identifiers allowed requesting unintended Konnect API endpoints with the user's token. The v1.0.0 patch neutralizes untrusted analytics fields, validates identifiers as UUIDs, encodes path segments, and disables raw plugin config output by default.

CVE-2026-16584 affects AWS API MCP Server (awslabs.aws-api-mcp-server) versions 0.2.13 through 1.3.46: if the security policy enforcement data fails to initialize at server startup, the tool silently skips policy checks for the rest of the process's life, letting an agent execute AWS API operations the admin configured the policy to deny or gate. Underlying IAM permissions still apply and are unaffected, but the intended allow/deny gating layer is bypassed (CWE-455, improper handling of initialization failure). Fixed in 1.3.47.

  40. CVE-2026-16498: The terraform-mcp-server before version 1

CVE-2026-16498 is a critical (CVSS 3.1: 10.0) exposure-of-sensitive-information flaw (CWE-488) in HashiCorp's terraform-mcp-server prior to version 1.1.0. In stateless streamable-HTTP transport mode, one user's Terraform API token could be reused to execute tool calls on behalf of a different, subsequent user, breaking tenant isolation in shared MCP server deployments. Fixed in terraform-mcp-server 1.1.0; further detail is tracked in HashiCorp's HCSEC-2026-23 advisory.

CVE-2026-14748 is a low-severity (CVSS 4.0: 2.1) server-side request forgery flaw in AIAnytime's Awesome-MCP-Server, specifically in the mcp-wiki/wiki-summary component's server.py, where the url argument is not validated before the server fetches it. A remote, low-privilege attacker can abuse this to make the MCP server issue arbitrary outbound requests; the exploit has already been published via GitHub issues and the maintainer has not responded to the disclosure.

  42. CVE-2026-14541: An authentication bypass and audience confusion vulnerability exists in the Google OAuth provider component of Google mc

CVE-2026-14541 describes an authentication bypass (CWE-287) in the Google OAuth provider of Google's mcp-toolbox for databases v1.4.0, an MCP server that lets LLM agents query databases. When the Google authService is configured with mcpEnabled: true but no explicit audience or clientId, the ValidateMCPAuth pipeline skips audience checks for opaque tokens, so any valid Google OAuth access token — even one issued for an unrelated app — is accepted, letting unauthorized clients reach protected tools and data backends.

When the Publish server runs in anonymous mode (a documented configuration for public docs sites), the Publish reverse proxy attaches an anonymous RoleReader JWT to every proxied request, letting an unauthenticated attacker reach /mcp, exfiltrate accessAuthCode/api.token/cookieKey from conf.json, escalate to Administrator, and plant a malicious Electron plugin (nodeIntegration:true, contextIsolation:false) for RCE on the desktop client. It only affects instances with the agents module enabled via N8N_ENABLED_MODULES and a domain-restricted credential shared with a member. It is fixed in 2.28.1 and 2.27.4, and the advisory rates it High (CVSS v4 7.1).

  45. Ruby SSE Session Poisoning

A GitHub Security Advisory (GHSA-5p9g-j988-pcwv) documents a session poisoning flaw in the Ruby MCP SDK's Streamable/SSE HTTP transport: the server never validates that a POST to /messages/{session_id} actually belongs to the caller, so an attacker who obtains a victim's session ID (e.g. via logs or network sniffing) can silently execute tool calls whose responses are delivered into the victim's own SSE stream. The advisory includes a working PoC (attacker/legitimate client scripts against the SDK's example streamable_http_server.rb), notes that csharp-sdk and go-sdk correctly bind sessions to user identity while ruby-sdk does not, and distinguishes the bug from the related "Stream Replacement" advisory (GHSA-qvqr-5cv7-wh35), which disconnects rather than poisons the victim's stream.

  46. Missing authentication on MCP HTTP endpoint allows unauthenticated privileged tool calls

GHSA advisory for jovancoding/network-ai disclosing that its MCP HTTP transport (bin/mcp-server.ts, lib/mcp-transport-sse.ts) accepts JSON-RPC tools/call requests with zero authentication, session, or origin checks, and binds to 0.0.0.0 by default. The PoC shows an unauthenticated attacker can enumerate 22 registered tools and invoke privileged ones - config_get/config_set to read and mutate live orchestrator configuration, agent_list/agent_spawn/agent_stop, token_create/token_revoke, budget_set_ceiling, and blackboard_write/delete - with curl requests against a local Docker deployment. Remediation recommended enforcing bearer-token auth in _handlePost() before dispatch, defaulting to 127.0.0.1 binding, and gating state-mutating tools behind authorization checks.

The prior patch (GHSA-7r34-79r5-rcc9) added validate_url_for_ssrf, which resolves the attacker-controlled X-Atlassian-{Jira,Confluence}-Url header host once at middleware time but discards the resolved IP; the actual outbound request later re-resolves the raw hostname at connect time with no IP pinning, so a rebinding DNS name can pass validation with a public IP and then connect to 169.254.169.254 or an internal address, restoring unauthenticated SSRF to cloud metadata/internal services even on the 'patched' build. This redirects kubectl calls to an attacker-controlled API server, leaking the operator's bearer token and enabling full Kubernetes cluster compromise. Fixed in v3.9.0; details corroborated by a VulnCheck advisory and the upstream GitHub commit/PR.

  75. AI Security Briefing

CVE-2026-52830 describes a path traversal flaw in fast-mcp-telegram, a PyPI package exposing Telegram as an MCP server, where HTTP Bearer tokens are joined directly into a session-file path without normalization. The verifier blocks the literal reserved token "telegram" but not path separators, so a token like "../fast-mcp-telegram/telegram" lets a remote HTTP client authenticate as the default legacy session, bypassing the control meant to keep multi-user HTTP sessions from colliding with the default stdio/legacy account. Account-prefixed MCP tool naming does not prevent the bypass since prefixed tools for the compromised default account remain accessible.

  76. AI Security Briefing

CVE-2026-50027 describes a critical missing-authentication flaw in mcp-memory-service, a PyPI-hosted MCP server used for persistent AI agent memory. All routes under /api/documents/* bypass the server's MCP_API_KEY/OAuth authentication checks (unlike the properly-protected /api/memories endpoints), letting unauthenticated remote attackers read, write, and permanently delete stored memories. GitLab rates it CVSS 9.8 Critical.

  81. Vulnerability-Lookup

GHSA-73cv-556c-w3g6 (CVE-2026-49257, CWE-306) documents that mcp-pinot v3.0.1 and earlier defaults to an HTTP MCP server bound to 0.0.0.0:8080 with oauth_enabled=False, exposing all 14 tools — including read_query, create_schema and create_table_config — to any unauthenticated network caller. The server proxies calls using its own server-side Pinot credentials, creating a confused-deputy condition that grants full read/write access to the backing Apache Pinot cluster (CVSS 10.0). Fixed in v3.1.0 (PR #95) by defaulting the bind host to 127.0.0.1, refusing non-loopback exposure without OAuth, and gating Helm exposure behind OAuth.

  83. Orca Security: Critical Unauthenticated RCE in Kopia Backup via SSH ProxyCommand Injection

Orca Security breaks down CVE-2026-45695 (CVSS 9.8), an unauthenticated RCE in the Kopia backup tool's HTTP server, affecting versions 0.22.3 and earlier. The flaw stems from Kopia's /api/v1/repo/exists endpoint splitting SFTP storage configuration fields on literal spaces without a proper tokenizer or quote handling, letting an attacker inject `-oProxyCommand=<cmd>` into the SSH command line when the server runs with --without-password and SFTP/external-SSH enabled — achieving code execution via a single crafted HTTP request. Fix is Kopia 0.23.0, which blocks starting with --insecure/--without-password on non-loopback interfaces; researcher Daniele Berardinelli reported it, tracked as GHSA-2q4c-3mrw-63c3.

  84. Orca Security: Critical Pre-Auth RCE in ChromaDB Threatens AI Infrastructure

CVE-2026-45829 (CVSS 10.0) is a pre-authentication remote code execution flaw in ChromaDB's Python FastAPI server, versions 1.0.0 through 1.5.8. The server processes user-controlled embedding function configuration before authentication checks, letting an attacker send a crafted collection-creation request referencing a malicious HuggingFace model with trust_remote_code enabled to force arbitrary Python code execution pre-auth. Discovered by researcher Azraelxuemo and later HiddenLayer (dubbed "ChromaToast Served Pre-Auth"); Shodan-based scanning found roughly 73% of internet-exposed ChromaDB instances still vulnerable, with fixes shipped in 1.5.9.

  85. Orca Security: Critical Apache HTTP Server HTTP/2 Vulnerability Could Enable Remote Code Execution

Orca Security's write-up of CVE-2026-23918 (CVSS 8.8), a double-free memory corruption bug in Apache HTTP Server's mod_http2 stream cleanup logic. An unauthenticated attacker can trigger it by sending crafted HTTP/2 HEADERS frames followed by an early RST_STREAM with a non-zero error code. This causes heap corruption, crashes, and possibly remote code execution. Version 2.4.66 is affected and 2.4.67 fixes it. Public PoC details exist, but no in-the-wild exploitation had been reported. Disabling HTTP/2 is given as a temporary workaround.

  86. Critical Buffer Overflow Vulnerability in PAN-OS Exploited in-the-Wild | Wiz Blog

Wiz details CVE-2026-0300, a CVSS 9.3 buffer overflow in PAN-OS's User-ID Authentication Portal (Captive Portal, ports 6081/6082) that lets unauthenticated attackers trigger an out-of-bounds write and achieve remote code execution with root privileges. Palo Alto Networks has confirmed limited in-the-wild exploitation against internet-exposed instances; Wiz reports 7% of environments have publicly exposed PAN-OS and Shodan shows 67 exposed servers on port 6081. Guidance includes patching once fixes ship, restricting the Authentication Portal to trusted networks, and disabling it if unused.

  87. MCP TypeScript SDK Cross-Client Data Leak (CVE-2026-25536)

CVE-2026-25536 is a cross-client data leak in the official MCP TypeScript SDK (v1.10.0-1.25.3, CVSS 7.1): when a single McpServer instance reuses a StreamableHTTPServerTransport across multiple concurrent client connections, a race condition in the response multiplexing logic can route one client's tool results, resource content, or errors to a different client. This breaks tenant isolation in multi-user MCP server deployments, a common production pattern, potentially exposing sensitive API responses, file contents, or database query results across security boundaries. Fixed in SDK v1.26.0; recommended mitigations include upgrading, using per-client McpServer instances, and adding client-side response correlation checks.

  88. MCPJam Inspector RCE (CVE-2026-23744)

CVE-2026-23744 describes an unauthenticated remote code execution vulnerability in MCPJam Inspector (versions ≤1.4.2), a debugging/testing tool for MCP servers. The tool's HTTP server binds to 0.0.0.0 by default and exposes a server-management endpoint with no authentication, letting any network-adjacent (or internet-facing) attacker install a malicious MCP server and execute arbitrary code on the developer's host with no user interaction, CVSS 9.8. Fixed in v1.4.3, which restricts the bind address and adds endpoint authentication.

  89. Gladinet CentreStack/Triofox: Cryptography Vulnerability | Huntress

Huntress reverse-engineered Gladinet CentreStack/Triofox's filesvr.dn HTTP handler and found that its AES-256 "Access Ticket" encryption uses hardcoded, static key/IV strings (Chinese and Japanese marketing text embedded in GladCtrl64.dll) extracted from the SysKeyMgr class, assigned CVE-2025-14611 (CVSS 7.1). Because the keys never change, attackers can forge tickets with arbitrary timestamps to read the server's web.config and steal ASP.NET machine keys, enabling ViewState deserialization RCE; this was chained with a prior auth bypass (CVE-2025-11371) and observed exploited in the wild against at least nine organizations. Later updates report suspected cl0p ransomware group exploitation of CVE-2025-30406 (ViewState deserialization) against internet-facing CentreStack servers, with IOCs including a "conqueror.exe" payload and specific attacker IPs.

  90. CVE-2024-50306: Unchecked return value in Apache Traffic Server

Writeup of CVE-2024-50306, a vulnerability in Apache Traffic Server (versions 9.0.0-9.2.5 and 10.0.0-10.0.1) where the code fails to check the return value of initgroups() when dropping privileges after startup. If the call fails, the process believes it has dropped supplementary group memberships when it has not, potentially leaving it in a privileged group and enabling privilege escalation. Fixed in ATS 9.2.6/10.0.2 by aborting execution on failure.

  91. CVE-2023-40303: unchecked return values of set*id() family functions in GNU inetutils

Disclosure writeup for CVE-2023-40303, found by the author, describing how GNU inetutils fails to check return values of set*id() family calls (setuid/setgid/etc.) across several of its binaries, including the ftpd, rcp, rlogin, rsh, rshd, and uucpd utilities. Because privilege-dropping calls are not verified, failure conditions can leave a process running with unintended elevated privileges, enabling local or in some server-daemon cases remote privilege escalation; the fix landed in the inetutils master branch ahead of a future release.
