- Training activation classifiers for safety and alignment
Training activation classifiers for safety and alignment describes how OpenAI trains lightweight probes on a model's residual stream activations to flag misaligned or policy-violating completions. Probes use an MLP plus QV-attention architecture with an exponential moving average and a rolling softmax objective. They run in streaming mode on the inference engine, have run on all assistant completions since GPT-5.6, and transfer well across post-training checkpoints but less across pre-training checkpoints.

It proves a quasi-renewal property that gives closed-form worst-case min-entropy and sampling requirements, and extends spectral and Allan-variance analysis so noise parameters come from a single timing trace. FPGA and ASIC experiments show flicker noise accounts for over 99% of uncertainty at a 0.99 min-entropy target, allowing a bitrate two to three orders of magnitude higher.

wtfibought (llm-trading-arena) is an MIT-licensed live arena where LLM agents trade virtual capital on real market data with all reasoning public. Users bring their own model and key, set the wake candle interval, leverage range and margin budget, with at most three symbols and twelve model calls per wake. The stack is Spring Boot on Java 25 with Spring AI, PostgreSQL, Redis and a React 19 frontend.

Inside the LiteLLM 1.107.0 supply chain compromise: Credential theft through Python startup hooksMicrosoft's analysis of the LiteLLM 1.107.0 compromise, published to PyPI and container images on 21 October 2026. The wheel shipped cook.pth, cook.py and sitecustomize.py, so a credential collector (PRIVCOLLECT) ran whenever Python started, even without importing LiteLLM. It covers AES/RSA-encrypted exfiltration to litellm.dev, a re-armable Unix loader, Defender KQL hunting queries, ATT&CK mapping and rotation guidance.

Bitcoin Core Rewrites Its Security Policy for a World Where AI Finds Bugs in One PromptBitcoin Core merged a security policy update in October 2026 that adds an "easily discoverable" label for vulnerabilities findable with a simple LLM query. Such bugs get a fix backported to all maintained releases and a new version shipped fast with an advisory, instead of a long embargo. Antoine Poinsot of Chaincode Labs proposed the change after a spike in reports. The article also recaps the Bitcoin Red Team and AI-found Lightning and wallet bugs.

LitPivot: Developing research ideas through dynamic contextualization within the literature landscapeLitPivot is a system from Ai2 and the University of Pennsylvania that helps researchers revise early research ideas when reading prior work changes their direction. It splits a proposal into problem, contribution and evaluation facets, groups papers from Asta Paper Finder per facet, and offers critiques with supporting excerpts and suggested rewrites. In a 17-researcher study, domain experts rated LitPivot ideas as better grounded in the literature than ideas made with a text editor and an AI chat tool.

The essay argues that LLMs solve open math problems because they search depth first, and automated verifiers make failed attempts cheap. It uses WT Gowers' hint-sequence complexity (2^k + t), adds a branching factor b, and walks through OpenAI's unit-distance disproof and Cycle Double Cover prompt as a drafter/solver/verifier harness. It predicts AI does best where k and b are small.

Standing on Open Shoulders: Regional Fine-Tuning of Open-Weight Camera-Trap Models for UK Wildlife with Modest Data and ComputeDeepFaune-UK is a fine-tune of the open DeepFaune camera-trap classifier on 28 UK classes, paired with MegaDetector v6. On 20,212 MammalWeb images it reached 88.8% strict accuracy against 56.5% (DeepFaune v1.5.0) and 59.0% (SpeciesNet). Re-applying the recipe to the DINOv3-based classifier gave 90.6%. Fine-tuning on about 150 crops per class matched full-data out-of-distribution accuracy, and a DINOv2 run took about 22 minutes on under 4 GB of GPU memory.

UAV-SwarmAgent: Scalable Multi-UAV Reconnaissance and Task Allocation via Code Generation and Vision-Language ReasoningUAV-SwarmAgent is a hierarchical multi-agent system where an operator gives one natural-language sentence and a ground-station agent writes and runs code that produces per-UAV routes. A vision-language model grounds targets in an aerial map, and worker agents verify incidents with a compact onboard model. In simulation it located the incident in 244 of 255 missions (95.7%), and flight time followed an Amdahl-type law with speedup bounded at 1.52x for one to five UAVs.

Tight Post-Quantum Multi-Key Security of the FX ConstructionRentaro Shiba and Tetsu Iwata prove a tight multi-key security bound for the FX construction (the DESX generalization) in the quantum ideal cipher model. Security holds up to about 2^((n+ΞΊ)/3) total classical and quantum oracle queries against fully adaptive adversaries, for any number of keyed instances ΞΌβ₯1. This improves their ToSC 2026 bound and matches the offline Simon's algorithm attack in the exponent.

DRIVE: Fine-tuning via Data Contribution- and Diversity-aware Weighting with Prior RegularizationDRIVE is a per-sample weighting framework for single-stage fine-tuning when the source pre-training data is unavailable. It uses one differentiable objective: Shapley additivity splits each sample's contribution into anti-forgetting and adaptation parts, a covariance-based diversity term reshapes them, and a sample-characteristic prior stabilizes them. The authors prove better stability-plasticity guarantees than existing weighting schemes and report better performance, faster convergence and more robustness.
