Microsoft Disrupts Chinese-Language Phishing Market Behind 1B+ MessagesMicrosoft and Health-ISAC seized domains tied to YAM Store (Storm-3119), an access broker that hijacks Microsoft 365 and Azure for Education tenants, and to the Storm-2990 phishing kits CoGUI, Haozi and Iron Man, under a Southern District of Florida order. The services sent over 1B malicious messages since January 2026 to 75,000+ organizations in 150+ countries; Microsoft disabled 20,000+ accounts and is blocking 100,000+ domains. Iron Man offers 2,335+ templates and real-time OTP capture, and Resecurity found it needs regular contact with a vendor licensing server, a dependency defenders can exploit.

Coinbase's October 2026 position on Bitcoin's post-quantum migration, as reported by The Block. Coinbase, which holds about 5% of bitcoin supply, favors output designs that separate the container from the signature scheme (P2MR/BIP-360, P2TRv2), staged hybrid 1-of-2 spending paths, a stateless option beside stateful signatures, and MPC-compatible schemes for custody. It also wants the abandoned-coins debate run in parallel.

Guided tour of Omar Santos's eight-part AI-agents-for-cybersecurity repository. It moves from LLM building blocks (LangChain, RAG) to security agents built with LangGraph, CrewAI, DeepAgents and MCP servers (nmap, CISA KEV, Shodan). It also covers a hardening guide for six agentic frameworks, token-cost control, and a spec for a supervisor-led, human-gated assessment harness. Design lessons include least-privilege subagents, single-use approvals and kill switches.

Omar Santos walks through his eight-part AI-agents-for-cybersecurity repository: LLM building blocks (LangChain, RAG), then security agents with LangGraph, CrewAI, DeepAgents and MCP servers (nmap, CISA KEV, Shodan), a hardening guide for six agentic frameworks, token-cost control for agents, and a spec for a supervisor-led, human-gated security-assessment harness. It covers concrete design lessons such as least-privilege subagents, staged response actions, single-use approvals bound to exact actions, kill switches, and mapping controls to the OWASP Top 10 for Agentic Applications. Also notes Project CodeGuard rules shipped for AI coding assistants.

Strengthening our defenses against distillation attacksAnthropic describes its layered defenses against distillation attacks, in which fraudulent-account networks harvest Claude's reasoning transcripts to train rival models. The defenses are reasoning summarization, "preserved thinking" (new API accounts cannot edit prior context), restricted access to reasoning transcripts, a two-stage constitutional-classifier system with under 0.1% false positives, stricter usage limits and account bans, and charging for blocked requests. Anthropic reports 10โ100x fewer extracted reasoning tokens, and a SWE-bench Verified drop from 80.4% to 71.8% when a model trains on summarized rather than full transcripts. It also argues that distilled models such as GLM-5.3 ship without proportionate safeguards and pose national-security risks, and that platforms and other labs must act too.

Strengthening our defenses against distillation attacksAnthropic describes how it countered industrial-scale distillation attacks on Claude, in which proxy networks of hundreds of thousands of fraudulent accounts (stolen payment details, false identities) tricked models into revealing hidden reasoning. Defenses include a two-stage constitutional-classifier system (<0.1% false positives), "preserved thinking" that blocks edits to prior context for new API accounts, restricting reasoning transcripts to the originating organization, stricter limits, bans, and charging for blocked requests. It reports 10โ100x fewer reasoning tokens extracted, cites Zhipu's GLM-5.3 and Moonshot Kimi forwarding as examples, and discusses trade-offs and the need for platform-wide action.

Governing the Agentic SDLC Through Continuous Policy EnforcementJFrog proposes Agentic Process Evidence, an open protocol that records AI coding agent sessions (harness, model ID, tool calls, MCP use, prompts, owner, human reviewer) as signed in-toto/DSSE, SLSA-compatible attestations bound to commits, artifacts and releases. Policy-as-code gates can then block releases that used unapproved LLMs or MCP tools, or that lack an accountable human. It maps the approach to EU AI Act Articles 12/14, OWASP AISVS and ISO/IEC 42001, and includes example session-log and evidence JSON. The post also promotes JFrog AppTrust's Prompt to Release Traceability.

Ledger claims CryptoBilis cases are limited as up to $93M is traced, $10M frozenCoinDesk reports that up to $93โ94.5M in mostly USDT and TRON tokens was drained from 315โ521 wallets across six or seven blockchains. The wallets were tied to Ledger hardware wallets sold by the authorized reseller CryptoBilis. Ledger confirmed an unauthorized hardware implant in at least one device but did not say how the devices were tampered with. Tether froze $10M, some funds moved through Tornado Cash and Zcash, and Ledger told affected users not to set up unused devices and to move funds to a new device with a fresh recovery phrase. The figures come from Bitquery and YFarmX onchain estimates, not a confirmed Ledger loss total.

Strengthening our defenses against distillation attacksAnthropic's post on defenses against illicit distillation of Claude, which it says cut reasoning tokens harvested by distillers 10 to 100 times. The methods are preserved thinking (no editing of prior context for accounts created on or after 31 August 2026), a two-stage classifier with under 0.1% false positives, and stricter limits, bans and charges for blocked requests. It also covers trade-offs and the GLM-5.3 and Kimi cases.

The Block reports on the XRP Ledger disclosure of a critical bug that had been in the payment engine since 2015. Order-book offer totals had no overflow check, so a single payment consuming a few hundred crafted offers could wrap the sum and mint spendable XRP past the 100B cap. Veria Labs' AI agent found it and built a working exploit, and RippleX shipped the fix in xrpld 3.4.1 on Sept. 25, bypassing the usual amendment vote to avoid tipping off attackers. The article also covers the $250K bounty, a separate Batch bug, and the closed-source-release criticism.
