Rigged Coding Assignment, Abused AI Tool Opened Path to $6 Billion Binance Heist
Binance's incident report on the $6.34 billion theft, as summarized by SecurityWeek, says attackers compromised three wallet engineers' computers between June and October 2026. One engineer was hit through a fake job interview and a malicious coding assignment. They then abused an internal wallet signing service and EIP-7702 delegation on MPC-secured hot wallets. The FBI blames TraderTraitor; about $2.85 billion was frozen or intercepted.
