CVE-2026-115905 is a ZIP cloaking flaw in the Rust zip crate (zip-rs/zip2), rated CVSS v4.0 10.0 and affecting versions below 9.0.5. ZipArchive reads central-directory metadata while ZipStreamReader reads local headers, so a crafted archive can pass filename inspection and then overwrite a different file during streaming extraction. Version 9.0.5 adds consistency checks, but ZipStreamReader::new leaves them off by default, and extraction is not atomic, so files can be written before an error is raised. ToFu is a tool-aware fuzzing framework for LLM tools, including MCP servers. It maps each tool argument, using its metadata, to one of 74 CWE-guided semantics-aware sanitizers (path, URL, SQL and similar). It then generates schema-valid Atheris harnesses and semantic oracles, using runtime tracers for in-process tools and outcome oracles for opaque ones. The LLM (gpt-4.1) only maps sanitizers and writes seeds; it is never the security judge. The paper also shows a "Repeat-After-Me" trick, where an LLM told to repeat attacker-crafted text emits a tool call the orchestrator executes, reproduced on LangGraph, MAF, ADK 2.0, AutoGen, Strands and CrewAI. Across 273 runnable MCP servers (3,405 tools) it reports 253 verified bugs in 343 tools across 118 servers, such as path traversal, log injection and exfiltration. These are failures a crash-based fuzzer would miss. The result matters because it shows LLM-generated tool arguments cannot be treated as trusted.

Before the solver trains, an adversary writes a rubric-gaming but useless answer, the same model writes an honest answer without seeing the rubric, and up to two repair steps revise the rubric until the honest answer wins. Exploits found also rewrite future task and rubric generation. On HealthBench Professional it beats a Generation Only baseline by 10.9 points at 9B and 12.4 at 27B (10.3 with no external model), and the 27B model transfers to PRBench Hard (+6.6) and ProfBench (+8.0).

Anthropic's Scion is heavily inspired by MononokeA former Meta engineer on the Mononoke source control server says Anthropic's description of its new version control system Scion closely mirrors Mononoke's "derived data" design for efficient operations like blame. Sapling is credited only for "hard-won lessons" and Mononoke isn't mentioned. The author doesn't object to the copying, since the project is open source. Their point is that LLMs used to design systems will index heavily on open-source designs in their training data, and that Opus 5.5 and GPT-6 Astra both point to Mononoke when asked about prior art. They argue crediting prior art is now easier and more important.

Does Document Structure Help Dense Retrieval? Using a coverage-aware nDCG metric and document-clustered bootstrap with Holm correction across 200 Wikipedia Featured Articles (951 queries) and 1,585 QASPER papers (4,303 questions), it finds that structure-aligned chunking with real heading paths beats both contextualized fixed windows and the placebo, naive hierarchical retrieval hurts performance (traced to first-stage section recall failures), and gold structure beats LLM-induced structure on Wikipedia but not QASPER. Effect sizes are small but statistically significant and consistent across corpora, giving RAG practitioners evidence-based guidance on which structure-aware retrieval tricks actually help versus which are placebo effects.

MetaMask unstakes $1.4B of ETH after validator rewards stolenMetaMask (ConsenSys) proactively exited roughly 17,000 Ethereum validators totaling 523,000+ staked ETH (~$1.4B) after block rewards from at least 18 validators were redirected to a Tornado Cash-funded wallet instead of the correct fee recipient, routed through Titan Relay. Security researcher 0xKaden (Spearbit/Cantina) traced the suspicious address on-chain, and the incident drew comparisons to the earlier $41M Kiln SOL staking compromise where all validators were similarly exited and signing keys rotated as a precaution. The mass unstaking spiked Ethereum's validator exit queue to its highest level of the year, pushing withdrawal wait times toward two weeks.

Introducing zkAPI: private usage credits for any APIzkAPI, built by the Open Anonymity Project with the Ethereum Foundation, lets users deposit credits into an Ethereum vault contract once and then authorize bounded, metered API usage via zero-knowledge proofs instead of an API key tied to identity. The scheme uses Groth16 proofs over BN254, Poseidon-hashed note commitments in a 32-level Merkle tree, and one-way nullifiers to prevent double-spend while keeping spends unlinkable to deposits; a client mints short-lived, capped API keys locally and the server settles against the private balance via signed usage receipts. The post also candidly documents the system's limits: it doesn't anonymize network metadata/IP (mitigated by Tor) and doesn't prevent re-linking via prompt-content fingerprinting across sessions.

At test time the proposer refines the harness across successive executions on a new task without any parameter-space update, and experiments on reasoning and multi-hop QA show revision quality improves with training and that test-time adaptation transfers to unseen tasks. The work points toward continually learning agents that convert accumulated experience into generalizable harness improvements rather than model weight changes.

Marimo Notebook Flaw Could Run MCP Commands Before Cells Execute in Edit ModeThe Hacker News details CVE-2026-75149, a high-severity (CVSS 8.8) code injection flaw in Marimo notebooks where a crafted notebook's configuration could supply an attacker-controlled MCP server command that runs as a local subprocess as soon as the notebook is opened in edit mode, before any cell executes. Marimo fixed it in version 0.23.15 by treating notebook metadata as untrusted and allowlisting configuration, stripping ai/mcp/completion/secrets/server sections; the article also covers the related CVE-2026-67618 (AI base_url exfiltrating API keys via notebook metadata) and the earlier CVE-2026-39987 (unauthenticated /terminal/ws endpoint granting a full PTY shell).

CVE-2026-65056 describes a server-side request forgery in the mcp-webresearch MCP server (npm package @mzxrai/mcp-webresearch, v0.1.7), scoring CVSS 4.0 8.3 HIGH. The visit_page tool only validates URL protocol and does not filter private, loopback, link-local, or cloud metadata IP ranges, so an attacker who controls the LLM-supplied URL argument (e.g. via prompt injection) can steer the server's Playwright browser to internal endpoints like cloud instance metadata services and exfiltrate sensitive internal content, including credentials, back into the model context.

GHSA-9hgc-g3w5-67cm details a DNS TOCTOU race in IBM mcp-context-forge's /admin/gateways/test endpoint: validate_gateway_test_url() resolves and vets a hostname against private/cloud-metadata IP ranges, but the actual request is made with httpx (via ResilientHttpClient), which independently re-resolves DNS at connection time with no IP pinning. An attacker with gateways.read permission can exploit DNS rebinding (short-TTL record flipping from a public IP to 169.254.169.254) to bypass SSRF protections and reach cloud instance metadata, exfiltrating IAM credentials where IMDSv1 is enabled. The advisory notes the codebase already acknowledges the gap in two comments and a tracked TODO (ICACF-15), and recommends pinning the validated IP into the connection.

Rebuilding AUTOMATIC1111 with Gradio WorkflowA Hugging Face blog post walking through Workflow1111, a 73-node graph built with Gradio's gr.Workflow that reimplements most of AUTOMATIC1111's stable-diffusion-webui feature set as a single visual canvas: text-to-image, hi-res fix, image-to-image, prompt matrix, VLM interrogation, detection-to-inpaint masking, ControlNet-style annotators, background removal, PNG metadata round-tripping, and image-to-video, wired from models like FLUX.1-Kontext, Qwen3-4B, Qwen2.5-VL, DETR, AuraSR, BRIA RMBG-2.0, and Wan 2.2 I2V A14B. It contrasts gr.Workflow with ComfyUI, shows that every output node auto-becomes both a REST endpoint and an MCP tool (usable by Claude Code or Cursor), and demonstrates running nodes locally on your own GPU via ZeroGPU (FastVideo/fastvideo-fasth3-preview) instead of hosted inference.

Once in a BlueMoon: Multiple State-Aligned Threat Actors Rapidly Adopt Novel Chrome/Windows Zero-Day ChainProofpoint details "BlueMoon," a novel exploit kit chaining a Chrome V8 type-confusion RCE (CVE-2026-85046), a V8 sandbox escape via WebAssembly metadata corruption (CVE-2026-87491), and a Windows kernel LPE (CVE-2026-85880) to break out of the browser sandbox. Within days of first use by China-aligned TA412 (28 Aug 2026), the kit was independently adopted by UNK_LateNight (delivering ShadowPad to US aerospace targets), UNK_DoubleCheck (Rust-based loader against a Vietnamese manufacturer), and UNK_QuietRacket (custom malware against Indonesia/Singapore government and finance targets). The piece analyzes exploit internals (Maglev/TurboFan JIT bug, reflective DLL loading, ALPC/WNF kernel exploitation), flags artifacts suggesting AI-assisted exploit development (debug comments, handover markdown files, v8CTF references), profiles the GemStone Chromium-extension credential-theft backdoor deployed via Secure Preferences forgery, and provides IOCs, ET rules, and a YARA rule for detection.

Green's Functions from Sample-based Krylov Quantum Diagonalization: An Impurity Solver for Dynamical Mean-Field TheoryThis arXiv preprint generalizes the sample-based Krylov quantum diagonalization (SKQD) method from ground-state energy calculations to computing single-particle Green's functions on quantum hardware. By building unitary Krylov subspaces in the N±1 particle sectors and classically evaluating overlaps, the authors reconstruct Green's functions via a Lanczos continued fraction, applying the technique as an impurity solver for dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT) on the single-impurity Anderson model, reproducing spectral features across the metal-insulator transition with shallow, ancilla-free quantum circuits.

ChatGPT Images 2.5 System CardOpenAI's system card for ChatGPT Images 2.5, covering the GPT-Image-2.5-Sunburst and GPT-Image-2.5-Flare models, details a multi-layer image safety stack (upstream LLM policy refusals, a multimodal safety reasoning model for input/output blocking) built to counter heightened deepfake realism risks. It reports adversarial-prompt evaluation results against ChatGPT Images 2.0, Preparedness Framework assessments for biological and cyber capability (image-modality adaptations of existing LLM evals, neither model crossing the "High" threshold but biological-risk mitigations still applied precautionarily), and expanded provenance tooling via C2PA metadata and Google DeepMind's SynthID watermarking.

How BitRobot Crowdsources Real-World Data for Embodied AI, with Jonathan VictorAn interview with BitRobot president Jonathan Victor explaining how the project crowdsources real-world robot interaction data ā the bottleneck for embodied AI ā through a decentralized market of "subnets" collecting different data types (urban navigation, mobile manipulation, dexterity) via teleoperation, simulation, or egocentric video. It traces BitRobot's origin from FrodoBots, whose open-sourced FrodoBots-2K dataset (2,000 hours of urban robot navigation, used by DeepMind, Meta, and UC Berkeley) demonstrated demand for public robot data, and describes BitRobot's current RoboCap wearable capture device and Solana-based entropy scoring/payment system that rewards rare, high-information contributions over redundant ones.

Numbat is a Go-based, single-binary endpoint agent from Perplexity AI that gives visibility into AI coding-agent activity (Claude Code, Codex, OpenClaw, and other CLI/IDE/gateway agents) by capturing events through local hooks, OTLP/HTTP logs, and on-disk session artifacts. It normalizes activity into one event model, evaluates it with a local CEL rule engine (including multi-step sequence rules like secret-read-then-egress), and can optionally block matched actions via synchronous pre-action hooks (deny/monitor decisions), with case bundles and SHA-256 manifests for forensic reconstruction. Example built-in rules detect cloud-metadata SSRF requests (169.254.169.254) and credential-exfiltration chains, mapped to MITRE ATT&CK technique tags.

Diffusion TV: Experiencing Diffusion Models through Tangible, Embodied InteractionDiffusion TV is an interactive AI art installation built from a modified CRT TV that lets audiences control the clarity of AI-generated images and sounds by physically manipulating the antenna, metaphorically enacting the denoising process of diffusion models. A tuning knob switches between three channels of AI-generated animals (extinct, endangered, speculative), embedding the interaction in a temporal and ecological narrative. The work argues for embodied, tangible interaction as an alternative mode of explainable AI that foregrounds the generative process itself rather than final outputs.

RegionFed: Federated Learning for Personalized Query Understanding in Heterogeneous Retail EnvironmentsRegionFed is a federated learning framework for personalized retail search query understanding that operates at the gradient level rather than parameter level, using the ā2 conflict between regional and global gradients to diagnose heterogeneity and route regions to personalization strategies. Unlike existing parameter-level personalized FL methods that collapse below 10% accuracy on transformers like T5, RegionFed deploys unchanged across T5-Small, T5-3B, RoBERTa, and CNN architectures. Evaluated on Amazon ESCI, Amazon Reviews, and LEAF-FEMNIST, RegionFed-Meta reaches 92.27% accuracy, closing to within 0.23pp of a privacy-violating centralized upper bound while providing (εā0.60)-differential privacy.
