It also adds stricter Windows path rejection and a plugin trust/SBOM handoff, and it states which adapters are only offline-tested.

Electrum wallet security flaw is fixed after a user loses money in fee attackElectrum 4.8.3, released 24 October 2026, fixes a flaw where a malicious server replaces a user's unconfirmed payment with a conflicting transaction carrying invalid signatures. If the user then bumps the fee with replace-by-fee, the wallet signs a payment to the attacker. One of two reporting users lost funds, and the patch now checks input signatures before accepting such transactions. Bull Bitcoin is adding the same client-side check.

eMudhra / emSign CA Compromise: What Python, pip, and CI/CD Users Need to UpdateGuidance on the October 2026 eMudhra / emSign CA incident, where eight intermediate CA certificates had private keys generated with insufficient randomness. It explains why updating certifi alone does not fix pip's vendored bundle, and lists fixed versions (certifi 2026.10.19, pip 26.2.2, Python 3.15.1, 3.14.9, 3.13.17). StepSecurity's OpenSSL 4.0.3 tests showed the older bundle accepted seven emSign paths, while both corrected bundles rejected all fourteen.

PHP2Shell Exposure Depends on More Than Whether You Use PHPHorizon3.ai post on assessing exposure to PHP2Shell (CVE-2026-109618, CVE-2026-109619), two memory-handling flaws in PHP. It says affected PHP may be bundled in third-party products, containers or managed hosting, and that finding it shows a remediation need, not proven exploitability. It lists questions to ask hosting providers and says Horizon3.ai has validated exploitation under specific preconditions that are still being characterized.

The Decisions API is an OpenAI endpoint, built on GPT-6 Luna, that answers bounded questions about text, images or native JSON inputs, up to 10x faster than Luna through the Responses API. It returns a probability (predicate), a choice or a score. It is generally available, accepts up to 400 questions per request, and costs $0.10 per million input tokens with no output charges.

Simon Willison's link post covers Anthropic's 22 October 2026 announcement that it is donating the Agent Skills standard to the Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF) under the Linux Foundation. Anthropic co-founded the AAIF with Block and OpenAI and earlier donated MCP to it. Willison notes he predicted this in December 2025 and found his old post by querying his blog through datasette-mcp in Claude.

How bug bounty sharpens one researcherโs security skillsGitHub Bug Bounty spotlight interview with @r31n, a researcher known for GitHub Enterprise Server findings. They describe a source-and-sink approach to mapping trust boundaries, chaining minor bugs (open redirect plus allowlisted SSRF that follows redirects), and confirming a finding only with a working PoC. They also cover using AI for code navigation and PoC scripts, and treating model output as untrusted input.

The Current Landscape of OAuth AttacksUnit 42 survey of OAuth attacks that steal tokens after MFA, so access survives password resets. It covers account hijacking (device authorization and authorization code misuse), permission hijacking (vague or impersonating app names), and malicious redirects, including the error-triggered redirect campaign Microsoft documented in March 2026. It also describes COSF and OAuth-as-a-service flaws, PhaaS and LLM evasion trends, and defenses such as admin-only consent and redirect_uri audits.

OlmoEarth v1.3: State-of-the-art embeddings for the whole planetOlmoEarth v1.3 is an open satellite embedding model from Ai2 that reads a year of Sentinel-1, Sentinel-2 and Landsat data and outputs a 128-dimensional vector per 10 m pixel (the first 64 dimensions also work alone). Its embeddings beat AlphaEarth Foundations and Tessera v2 on 20 of 27 evaluations. Precomputed global embeddings, a browser Embeddings Explorer and pre-training cost (about $2,720 of H100 time) are covered.

Crypto exchange CoinDCX โlyingโ about $16M hack, say blockchain investigatorsProtos reports that on-chain investigators, including Darcy of Salus, ZachXBT and SpecterAnalyst, say CoinDCX misattributed about $16M in outflows from compromised wallets. CoinDCX says the addresses were created in January 2025, compromised in July 2025, and that a sweeping process failed. Investigators cite gas distribution, hot wallet transfers as late as May 2026, and funds sent to Huione and Xinbi addresses.

Major Banks Find Rogue AI Agents Inside Customer AccountsโAnd Theyโre 'Horrified'Decrypt summarizes an Axios report that major U.S. banks are finding unauthorized third-party AI agents inside customer accounts, often using the customer's own credentials. Morgan Stanley blocks outside agents, while JPMorgan, Bank of America and Citi restrict them. Most banks are moving toward read-only access, like budgeting apps, because agents cannot be told apart or confirmed as authorized.

Anti-Forensics: Building a PhantomdrivePhantomdrive is an open source USB drive built on the WCH CH569 chip that appears as a plain 8GB disk and hides the rest of an SD card behind AES-256 encryption. The hidden partition unlocks when the user saves "password:" in a text file; the firmware catches it in raw WRITE10 traffic and zeroes the buffer. Key derivation uses a per-device salt and 100,000 SHA-256 rounds, and the post compares AES-ECB, CTR and XTS speeds.
