Binance says fake job interview led to $6.3 billion crypto heist
Binance's incident report says North Korean TraderTraitor (Lazarus) hackers stole about $6.34 billion on 29 October 2026 after a fake job interview led an engineer to run a malicious coding assignment. The 0-day macOS malware replaced the Homebrew pyenv executable, then pivoted via an internal AI tool to two wallet-infrastructure employees, a container deployment token and the wallet signing service. Attackers also abused EIP-7702 to keep draining after withdrawals were suspended.
