Critical Linux kernel flaw allows remote root attacks on MPTCP serversCVE-2026-98432 is a use-after-free race condition in the Linux kernel IPv4 TCP code (tcp_v4_syn_recv_sock, ireq_opt), affecting kernels back to 4.4 and rated 9.8 by the kernel CVE team (Red Hat rates it 5.9). Anthropic researchers say an unreleased Claude model built an exploit that bypassed KASLR and got remote root on an MPTCP listener in about 53 minutes. The article lists distro patch status and CIQ's nftables mitigation for IP options; disabling MPTCP alone does not help. No in-the-wild exploitation is reported.

Why a bug that could have threatened XRP's 100 billion supply cap stayed hidden for yearsCoinDesk reports on an 11-year-old integer-overflow bug in the XRP Ledger's DEX code. Hundreds of crafted offers could make the computed buyer cost wrap to near zero while sellers were credited in full, which would have minted billions of XRP beyond the 100 billion cap. The post-transaction no-new-XRP invariant check used the same miscounted total, and the per-account receive limit was sidestepped by spreading funds across hundreds of accounts. Researcher Cayden Liao and Veria AI reported it on Sept. 22, RippleX patched it with no evidence of exploitation, and the XRP Ledger Foundation plans AI adversarial testing, formal verification and a stronger bug bounty.

Post announcing a public PoC for CVE-2026-13043, a critical flaw (CVSS 4.0 9.3, scored by WatchGuard) in PSKMAD, the kernel memory access driver of WatchGuard Endpoint Security on Windows. The access-control handshake can be bypassed (CWE-306/CWE-798), letting a local authenticated attacker send privileged commands and read kernel and other processes' memory. Fixed in 8.00.26.0012; the PoC author and LOLDrivers frame the signed driver as BYOVD material, which WatchGuard does not say. CyberForge CVE of the Day #074 analyses CVE-2026-85097, a CVSS 9.8 unauthenticated file upload to PHP execution flaw (CWE-434) in the Bricksforge WordPress plugin through 3.1.8.9. Wordfence names 3.1.8.10 as the fix, and a separate vendor 4.0.1 Pro Forms upload-security notice has no verified mapping to the CVE. It gives a defender workflow: scope versions, preserve edge/origin logs, inspect resulting files and PHP-FPM handling, and verify the patched version is serving. It also separates KEV (no match), EPSS (0.312%) and SSVC (exploitation none) from compromise evidence.

XRP Ledger patched decade-old bug that could create billions of dollars in XRP from nothingCoinDesk reports that researcher Cayden Liao and Veria AI found a flaw, believed to date to 2015, in the XRP Ledger's built-in exchange. Hundreds of crossed offers made the total XRP owed too large for the software to count correctly. The buyer was charged almost nothing while the sellers were paid in full, so XRP was created from nothing. The bug slipped past the ledger's post-transaction no-new-XRP invariant check, which relied on the miscounted total, and past per-account receive limits, because the XRP was spread across hundreds of accounts. RippleX reproduced it on a standalone server and fixed it in xrpld 3.4.1 on Sept. 25 without disclosing the cause. It found no evidence of exploitation on public networks.

Citrix NetScaler CVE-2026-88772 — DTLS preauth memory overflowwatchTowr Labs reverse-engineers CVE-2026-88772, a preauth DTLS memory overflow in Citrix NetScaler ADC/Gateway's nsppe binary, exploited in the wild as a zero-day and fixed in Citrix bulletin CTX697096. The writeup walks through patch diffing between build 14.1-73.30 and 14.1-73.37, crafting malicious DTLS handshake fragments that trick NetScaler's reassembly logic into copying about 174KB of NSB chain data into a 35,840-byte scratch buffer, and the full exploitation path from crash to a fake-vtable hijack, ROP-based mprotect call, and shellcode execution, plus a public detection artefact generator.

Critical Cursor Flaws Could Let Prompt Injection Escape Sandbox and Run CommandsCato AI Labs disclosed DuneSlide, two critical (CVSS 9.8) Cursor flaws — CVE-2026-50548 and CVE-2026-50549 — that let a zero-click prompt injection (via MCP servers or web search results read by the agent) escape Cursor's terminal sandbox and achieve arbitrary command execution. Both abuse the file-write allowlist logic: one via the run_terminal_cmd tool's working_directory parameter, the other via a symlink-resolution fallback that trusts an in-project path when the real-path check fails; both let an attacker overwrite Cursor's sandbox helper binary or startup files like ~/.zshrc to disable the sandbox entirely. Fixed in Cursor 3.0 (April 2), affecting all prior 2.x versions; the piece also situates this alongside earlier Cursor agent-exploitation chains (CurXecute/CVE-2025-54135, MCPoison/CVE-2025-54136, CVE-2026-26268).

LiteLLM Flaw CVE-2026-42271 Exploited in the Wild, Chains to Unauthenticated RCECISA added CVE-2026-42271, a command injection flaw in BerriAI's LiteLLM AI gateway, to its KEV catalog after confirming active exploitation; the bug lets any authenticated proxy user run arbitrary commands via the MCP server test endpoints (/mcp-rest/test/connection and /mcp-rest/test/tools/list), which spawned attacker-supplied stdio subprocess configs. Horizon3.ai separately showed the flaw can be chained with CVE-2026-48710, a Starlette "BadHost" header validation bypass, to skip authentication entirely and achieve unauthenticated RCE (combined CVSS 10.0), exposing model provider credentials and enabling lateral movement into AI infrastructure. Fixed in LiteLLM 1.83.7 (test endpoints now require PROXY_ADMIN role) and Starlette 1.0.1; the article also notes a prior LiteLLM SQLi (CVE-2026-42208) exploited within 36 hours of disclosure.

A GitHub PoC chaining two n8n CVEs into unauthenticated RCE: CVE-2026-21858 abuses a Content-Type confusion in the Form Trigger/Respond-to-Webhook nodes to read arbitrary files (e.g. /proc/self/environ, the SQLite database, and the config file), from which the attacker derives the JWT secret from n8n's encryptionKey and forges an admin session cookie. That admin access is then used to create a workflow exploiting CVE-2025-68613, an expression-injection sandbox bypass (`this.process.mainModule.require`) that yields command execution, all demonstrated with a working Python exploit script and Docker lab against n8n 1.65.0. It notes the exploit was developed independently of a prior Cyera/Dor Attias write-up on a related n8n chain and details the specific vulnerable workflow pattern (file-upload form + binary Respond node) required for exploitation.

A Docker-based exploitation lab for CVE-2026-26980, an unauthenticated blind SQL injection in Ghost CMS's Content API (versions before 6.19.1). The bug lives in slug-filter-order.js, where slug values from the array-notation filter syntax (filter=slug:['value']) are interpolated unsanitized into an ORDER BY CASE statement, letting NQL's single-quote-wrapped literals smuggle raw SQL past input validation; since MySQL treats || as OR and empty strings as falsy, attackers get a clean boolean oracle to extract data (e.g. admin email/password hash) from any Ghost site using only the publicly embedded Content API key. The repo includes exploit.py for full setup/verify/extract, a docker-compose lab spinning up both vulnerable (6.18.0) and patched (6.19.1) Ghost instances, and also mentions a second patched bug (jsonpath/static-eval prototype pollution in the {{#get}} Handlebars helper leading to RCE via themes).

Combining EPSS and Reachability Analysis to Optimize Vulnerability Management | Blog | Endor LabsEndor Labs breaks down how the Exploit Prediction Scoring System (EPSS) v3 works — the exploitation telemetry, exploit-DB/GitHub/Metasploit code checks, CISA KEV/Project Zero/ZDI mentions, CVSS vectors, CWE, and social-media signals it ingests to score CVE exploitation likelihood — and shows that an EPSS-threshold (0.088) remediation strategy fixes the same share of exploited CVEs while patching only ~7.3% of known vulnerabilities versus ~82% under a "fix all high/critical" CVSS approach. It then explains a layered workflow: use reachability analysis (call-graph based) to cut findings by ~80% to what's actually exploitable in your environment, then apply EPSS on that reduced set to rank remaining issues by real-world exploitation likelihood, including for third-party/proprietary code where reachability analysis isn't feasible.

Misordered Named Parameters in require with Custom Errors BugThe Solidity team discloses a bug (reported by Cantina Security via the Ethereum Foundation bug bounty) where the IR-based (--via-ir) code generator pushed named custom-error arguments in call-site order instead of declaration order before ABI-encoding, corrupting revert data for require(condition, ErrorName({...})) calls with reordered named parameters. Introduced in Solidity 0.8.26 and fixed in 0.8.37, the bug produces silently swapped or type-confused values in decoded revert data with no compiler warning, and can cause misaligned encoding in multi-slot-argument cases that either reverts with undecodable data or produces a plausible-but-wrong payload - a real concern for standards like ERC-3668 (CCIP Read) that treat revert data as part of the contract interface. Severity was rated "very low" since the affected transaction is already reverting and there is no attacker-controlled exploitation path, but audits of via-ir contracts using named custom-error arguments should check for it.

Off Guard: Breaking LiteLLM from authentication bypass to cloud compromiseWiz researchers chain three LiteLLM flaws into a full pre-auth-to-cloud-compromise path: an MCP endpoint authentication bypass (CVE-2026-59822) that grants a session with any garbage Bearer token, a custom-code-guardrail sandbox bypass leading to root RCE (CVE-2026-59821) via exec() on unsanitized admin-submitted Python, and a config-endpoint authorization gap (CVE-2026-35029). They also show pass-through endpoints can be pointed at the AWS IMDS to steal IAM credentials, bypassing IMDSv2 via header-prefix forwarding. A scan of ~3,074 internet-facing instances found 9.6% accepting the default sk-1234 master key or no auth at all, and CVE-2026-59822 is now in CISA's KEV catalog with observed in-the-wild exploitation.

Khunt modules (KhuntCmd, KhuntHash, KhuntFS/FS2, KhuntT, KhuntUnzip) let the attacker run OS commands, dump Oracle credentials, browse the filesystem, and ultimately pivot to SYSTEM-level RCE on the underlying Windows host, where they exfiltrated SAM/SECURITY/SYSTEM registry hives. It's notable because storing malicious code as PL/SQL/Java database objects rather than OS files/processes evades traditional EDR and AV visibility.

What Is AI Pentesting and How Does It Work?Snyk explains AI pentesting as an orchestrated system — a reasoning model that plans reconnaissance/exploitation, deterministic DAST tooling for known vulnerability classes, an independent validator model that confirms exploitability, and context from existing scanner findings — designed to catch context-dependent flaws like BOLA/IDOR, cross-tenant leakage, and chained business-logic exploits that signature-based scanners miss. It cites concrete reliability data (frontier models solving only ~26% of hard system-exploitation benchmark tasks, ~30% hallucinated findings without independent validation, 210% YoY growth in valid AI-generated HackerOne reports and 540% growth in prompt-injection reports) and positions Snyk's Evo Continuous Offensive Security product against these evaluation criteria. It also references a RAND 2026 study on low-cost CTF-solving coding agents, Anthropic/Mozilla open-source vulnerability discovery work, and Google GTIG's report of the first in-the-wild AI-assisted zero-day.

The workflows execute on GitHub-hosted Ubuntu runners on every push, download an architecture-matched Linux payload from C2 server 43.228.157.68, and run an internet scanner (`ipscan --exploit CVE-2026-41940`) that exploits an authentication bypass in cPanel/WHM and harvests cloud, database, SSH, and source-control credentials, exfiltrating results via heartbeat/results HTTP endpoints and DNSHook callbacks. It walks through common IAB entry vectors — infostealer credential theft, exposed RDP/VPN abuse, and AI-assisted phishing (citing a Huntress EvilTokens lure example) — and includes a real SOC case where a brute-forced RDP server led to tradecraft linked to a ransomware ecosystem. AI Security BriefingAdversa AI's "GuardFall" research shows that decades-old shell tricks (quote removal, $IFS expansion, command substitution, base64-to-sh piping, and destructive argv flags like `find -delete`) let prompt-injected content bypass the pattern-matching shell-command guards in most popular open-source AI coding agents, because the guards inspect raw command strings while bash rewrites them before execution. Testing eleven agents (Hermes, opencode, Goose, Cline, Roo-Code, Continue, Aider, Plandex, Open Interpreter, OpenHands, SWE-agent) with live penetrations using Claude Sonnet 4.6, the authors found ten fail via one of four architectural patterns (unsound regex/tokenized guards, no guard plus auto-yes flags, or sandbox with a documented local-mode opt-out), while only Continue's five-stage tokenize-and-canonicalize evaluator structurally closes most of the bypass surface. Inheritance Order Reversal On Storage End Warning BugThe Solidity team discloses a medium-severity compiler bug present from Solidity 0.8.29 through 0.8.35 (fixed in 0.8.36): the code that emits Warning 3495 (custom storage layout too close to storage end) uses ranges-v3's actions::reverse instead of views::reverse, permanently mutating the linearizedBaseContracts AST annotation instead of only reading a reversed copy. Because that annotation drives inheritance-order decisions throughout analysis and codegen, affected contracts can get reversed constructor execution order, wrong super/virtual-function and virtual-modifier resolution, and incorrect fallback/receive dispatch — either silently miscompiling or triggering internal compiler errors. Exploitation requires a contract using both inheritance and a `layout at` clause landing within the last 2^64 storage slots, a pattern the team found no real-world evidence of via GitHub and Sourcify scans.

NGINX Rift: Achieving NGINX RCE via an 18-Year-Old Vulnerability (CVE-2026-42945)Depthfirst researchers used an internal automated code-analysis system to find four remote memory-corruption bugs in NGINX, the most severe being CVE-2026-42945 — an 18-year-old heap buffer overflow in ngx_http_rewrite_module triggered when a rewrite directive with a query string is followed by a set directive referencing a regex capture group. The writeup walks through the two-pass script-engine root cause (a stale is_args flag causes the length-calculation pass and copy pass to disagree on escaping), then details a full exploitation chain using cross-request heap feng shui to corrupt an adjacent ngx_pool_t, spray fake ngx_pool_cleanup_s structures via POST bodies, and achieve unauthenticated RCE by hijacking the pool cleanup handler to call system(). It also lists three other confirmed CVEs (2026-42946, 2026-40701, 2026-42934) and affected version ranges across NGINX OSS, NGINX Plus, App Protect, Ingress Controller and Gateway Fabric.

CSA: VulnOps in the Age of AICloud Security Alliance research note arguing that traditional vulnerability management (scan, ticket, patch on a calendar) is breaking under AI-driven vulnerability discovery volume, NVD's April 15, 2026 risk-based triage policy that limits full CVE enrichment to CISA KEV/EO 14028/federal-use software, and compressed disclosure-to-exploitation windows. It defines VulnOps as a flow-oriented operating discipline (borrowing SRE/DevOps metrics like lead time, change-failure rate, and pipeline saturation) built on continuous discovery, EPSS/KEV-based risk prioritization instead of CVSS-only ranking, automated remediation-as-code, and first-class SBOM/supply-chain visibility, while also flagging agentic AI itself (prompt injection, tool-poisoning, MCP command execution) as a new vulnerability class the practice must cover.

Orca Security: Critical Apache HTTP Server HTTP/2 Vulnerability Could Enable Remote Code ExecutionOrca Security's write-up of CVE-2026-23918 (CVSS 8.8), a double-free memory corruption bug in Apache HTTP Server's mod_http2 stream cleanup logic. An unauthenticated attacker can trigger it by sending crafted HTTP/2 HEADERS frames followed by an early RST_STREAM with a non-zero error code. This causes heap corruption, crashes, and possibly remote code execution. Version 2.4.66 is affected and 2.4.67 fixes it. Public PoC details exist, but no in-the-wild exploitation had been reported. Disabling HTTP/2 is given as a temporary workaround.

When Prompts Become Shells: RCE Vulnerabilities in AI Agent Frameworks (Semantic Kernel)Microsoft discloses two CVEs in its Semantic Kernel AI agent framework: CVE-2026-26030, where AI-model-controlled input into an eval()-executed Python lambda filter (used by the In-Memory Vector Store's Search Plugin) bypasses an AST-based blocklist via class-hierarchy traversal to BuiltinImporter.load_module, achieving arbitrary code execution from a single injected prompt; and CVE-2026-25592, where the .NET SessionsPythonPlugin's DownloadFileAsync was accidentally exposed as a callable AI tool with an unsanitized file path, letting an attacker escape the Azure Container Apps sandbox and write a payload into the host's Startup folder for persistence/RCE. The post details the exploit chains (mapped to MITRE ATLAS AML.T0051→AML.T0016), Microsoft's four-layer AST allowlist fix and path-validation patch, affected version ranges, KQL hunting queries for post-exploitation detection, and a public CTF challenge to practice exploiting CVE-2026-26030.

Marimo OSS Python Notebook RCE: From Disclosure to Exploitation in Under 10 Hours | SysdigSysdig's Threat Research Team details CVE-2026-39987, a critical (CVSS 9.3) pre-authentication RCE in the marimo Python notebook platform's /terminal/ws WebSocket endpoint, which skips the validate_auth() check used elsewhere in the app and grants an unauthenticated interactive PTY shell. Using honeypots deployed within hours of the advisory, TRT observed a single attacker build a working exploit from the advisory text alone (no public PoC existed), run a scripted PoC validation, manually recon the filesystem, and steal .env AWS credentials and search for SSH keys, all in under 3 minutes, with first exploitation just 9h41m after disclosure. CVE-2025-62878 — Critical Path Traversal in Rancher Local Path Provisioner (CVSS 10.0)Analysis of CVE-2025-62878 (CVSS 10.0), a path traversal flaw in Rancher's Local Path Provisioner — the default StorageClass backend for K3s — caused by unsanitized pathPattern templates in StorageClass definitions being joined into filesystem paths via filepath.Join. Exploitation lets an attacker escape the configured base storage directory to read/write/delete arbitrary host files (e.g. /etc/kubernetes/pki, /root/.ssh/authorized_keys) through a helper pod that gains host access via a hostPath mount rather than privileged mode, evading policies that only block privileged containers. The piece also challenges the CVSS 10.0 rating given the cluster-admin RBAC typically required, and covers a post-patch bypass via the allowUnsafePathPattern escape hatch.
