Malicious cPGuard Updates Served in OpsShield Supply Chain Attack
OpsShield, an Indian security vendor, had its cPGuard update channel abused to push malicious versions 5.88.12 to 5.88.19 to Linux web hosting servers for about 70 minutes. Attackers used a trial account to probe the billing and licensing server, gained command execution, and uploaded a fake update with a stolen key. The script ran as root on roughly 2,950 servers, planted a hidden root shell, and about 7,900 customer records were copied. Fixed in 5.88.25 with IoCs published.
