Exploit Development: Getting Started
Exploit Development: Getting Started is the first article in a Hackers-Arise series on exploit development. It explains process memory layout (stack, heap, data, text) and stack frames, then uses GDB on a 32-bit Ubuntu 14 system to disassemble a small C program's main function. It steps through the EBP/ESP prologue, the 0x10 stack allocation and placement of local variables.
