Google Calendar phishing campaign hijacks sessions, bypasses MFA
Operation CloudFire is Material Security's name for a phishing campaign active since mid-August 2026 that sends Google Calendar invites with Google-hosted redirect links. Victims land on a live reverse proxy in front of the real Google sign-in page, built on the Nyasher framework, which relays SMS, authenticator and number-matching MFA and so captures sessions. Material reports 68,676 messages blocked and 897 domains taken down in one month, partly through Cloudflare abuse reports.
